I guess my reaction is that even if you had the sunshade on the lens, there probably were still direct rays hitting the first element. I would not expect any degree of antireflective coating to be able to eliminate that sort of internal reflection. I see the single spike and also the (mltiple) aperture "moons" in the pine tree. A bit surprised by the single ray from the top of the image.

We sat there truly amazed to be our country's first representatives to the World Games . We cheered as each country was announced... and we took pictures of each other!

This photo became a poster that raised money for the local booster club. It was immensely popular since so many of the high school kids could identify themselves as being there when their team won the state title.
