It's worth noting that the RX100 at 5mp is just about same pixel pitch as the NEX 5N at 16mp.

All images are JPG's straight out of the camera. No post processing at all, just cropped.Exposure compensation set to a default -0.7, but I think this is too much after checking out many images....

Agreed, the difference is not night and day, but I am trying to convince myself that I should stick with the RX100 set at 5mp.

May I suggest you try checking at 100% and with a variety of images, to better assess the difference.
