No macro ability at this focal range? Making it to 0.5x wouldn't really hurt, right?
-
No aperture ring and dof scale on the e-mount version. AF simply isn't necessary for something with an 18mm FOV, you can zone focus wide open and after f5.6 it's just point and shoot.
-
And I doubt that their performance will hold up to the 50mm Zeiss Planar M and the 18mm Distagon. The 25 biogon is quite a bit better than the Zeiss 24mm e-mount.
-
Because despite their achievements in optics, they don't have a single clue about electronics. Zeiss can't even do AF for Sony...They design the optics and Sony figures out the rest for ZA lenses.
-
From what I see the zeiss is sharper until 5.6, slightly better color rendering but the bokeh is not as nice. I'll take AF on a DSLR anyday, but the 135APO is a solid piece of work.

I personally wouldn't care if Sony had NO E mount lenses whatsoever. I can fit all of my Canon, Zeiss and Leica lenses onto a NEX body, and for cheaper options ebay is flooded with Carl Zeiss...

I would suspect some damage being done to the actual surface of the pyramid, which would be fairly fragile after a few millennia. No disrespect involved, but I won't go stepping on something that...

But you can downsample and then apply a bit of NR. Also, there is good NR and there is bad NR, the in-camera type is certainly worse than Photoshop
-
I felt that the overcast sky made the color tones a bit too muted, especially when it was in the frame. If I have to shoot portraits outdoors, I usually get up early (1-2 hours after sunrise) or...

One of the best superwides for the NEX. Get the 1st version if you don't care about filters, the 2nd version if you need the occasional long exposure or polarizing effect

And one could argue that the views are natural to the normal person who does not try to see the sky from a different perspective :-)
I don't see it as weak, just "friendly". Maybe less of a...

Yes, which means you'll get unnervingly creamy bokeh. I actually don't like it because it's TOO creamy, but to each man his own.
-
I did look at similar works, but that isn't my type of work at all.
IMO the context is enjoyable when you see the images fully enlarged.
-
No, but I am hoping to use only photos that discreetly show foreground to the extent of helping the viewer know where they are, but no more. I have been looking at similar works, but they generally...

The "Bokeh King" is really just a myth. Leica's 35mm lenses have poor bokeh compared to Zeiss offerings or the Voigtlander 35mm f1.2.
Much better bokeh, in my opinion comes from the old 50mm f2 v4...

Not surprising. The 10-18mm f4 actually covers full frame. It has a HUGE amount of falloff at 10mm for FF, but that's inevitable I guess.
So when a FF nex comes out they'll have the 10-18 plus 3...

Desperately needs ordering, descriptions and a title for the project :-) Some of these also need a retouch to get the color straight, me being rather careless in pre-post-editing.
I'm trying to...

If you are indeed doing portraits, why not consider a older generation Leica 50 1.4 E46 or E43?
As sharp in the center, with a distinct 80s feel to the photos you won't get with the ASPH.
Taken...
