PDAF is very jerky for video af, depends on the lens but most just jump from one point to the next for C-AF and multi-point, for S-AF its a bit steadier but generally it shifts eratically. AF for...

I sort of agree, they are very very close, but the video is a non-event, the lack of stabilised evf and bigger lens makes the whole thing difficult to justify for a smidgen of improvement if at...

Steady shot and no 50p, I knew about the lack of 50p so was cool with 25p but the image stabilisation is like a low-end post processing stabilisation programme, all sorts of weird frame jumping and...

Yes, I just tried a 58 slt, not bad but it was very cheap feeling camera, but for £400 not bad I guess. Anyway no better than m43(OMD) and video was useless so sent it back, I think SLT is probably...
-
Essentially the Sony is similar to the OMD in out and out iq, maybe the same sensor, different sizes? Obviously the similarities end there though and especially for video the SLT58 is...
-
Olymore, I am not saying the A58 SLT is a bad camera, quite the opposite, it ain't bad at all, for video its useless and I'm fairly experienced in that arena. I thought I missed the 3:2 ratio of...

I did all the tests against the OMD with 14-150 to give the Sony a chance, shot everything raw, Sony kit lens.
In any event I had bought the SLT for 25p video and I thought amazing DR and 20mp 3:2...

Turn dial to movie! set the ae-lock button to activate and hold, set A priority, or Shutter or Manual and set 1/60 sec if ntsc, 1/50 if pal, invest in a variable nd filter to help you in bright...

G6 is too little too late, it needs to be better sensor tech not the same old same old.
-
A gh2 sensor without MAR is like, well its like why bother. If the G6 had the gh3 sensor then alright, but this is just 3 year old tech with a spruce up, get real Panasonic.
-
I don't know but it must cost more to take it off! Sony is obviously ensuring they have parity in the area they also have product, its Sony driven and its bad.

For stills SSS is OK, for video, hmmmmmm!
-
How do you know, its not an option! For video OIS is in another league to the pathetic Digital image stabilisation they use in the SLT, its garbage.
-
I am not convinced by Sony IBIS/Digital stab or whatever it is for video, some random fluttering going on and any minor movements causes frame break-up, the af is almost uselesss for video as there...
-
No, the only time you have stabilised evf is during video and that's a bit weird as its digital and weird fluttering goes on, OIS would cure all this, oh but Sony decided its not necessary it...
-
It isn't built into the evf view is it! OIS provides this feature unlike Sony!
