  • Replied in Me on location
Oh .... you meant FLARES (not "flairs"). My mistake, entirely.  From reading your many posts over the years, I should have been much more suspicious of your command of the English language.
  • Replied in Me on location
What are the "flairs", we're supposed to check out?  I don't understand what your are referring to.
  • That (and similar uses of a dedicated AF/ON) is just one example of a number of reasons why the D7100 should not be the "flagship" DX and the D610 is not a "pro" full frame instrument.  Buttons, ...
  • If the question is whether haze effect can be reduced, the answer is, yes.  If the question is whether your approach is the way to do it, I don't know. See this thread in this forum from 8 months ago.
  • Replied in cars too many
I get your point.  Cropping out the trees doesn't particularly help convey the impression of how small the squirrel is.  Perhaps a good solution would be to crop in really tight and insert a ruler ...
  • I read Thom's blog too and wasn't as encouraged as I thought I'd be.  I want an updated Dx that has Pro build and Pro operating ergonomics.  He kept talking about small and light and features like ...
  • That's much better! However, this is a first for me -- a shaved head but full sideburns are maintained. :-D I'm not sure that Patsym realized that my first posting was tongue-in-cheek.
  • Can't somebody do something about the severe underexposure of his glasses.  You can't even see his eyes which, as everyone knows, are one of the most important features of a good portrait.  ...
  • Replied in huh ?
Interesting observation -- that closely parallels my observation.  I am not a professional portrait photographer.  But I was wondering if any of you PROs though that this was taken with a lens ...
  • Gary ..... Is this one of those challenges where you must identify all the things in a photo that have been removed, added or modified?  I've only been able to identify the elimination of the tag ...
  • I'd like to apologize to you, Wolfgang (the OP) for partially hijacking your thread and sending it off into different and more technical direction.  In fact, your question had simply to do with ...
  • Thanks, Glen ..... Even though I was well aware that JPEGs are only 8-bit, I hadn't thought of the bit depth issue as being the dominating determinant of file size differences. I somehow thought ...
  • Glen .... I read your blog and am a little confused about one item. You say that the Raw conversion process creates an image by using some, but not all, of the data contained in the Raw file.  But ...
  • Replied in Nikon D9300!
I was curious about whether this could be true.  So I entered "D9300" into the Search function and it identified a thread (in this exact forum) that was started a week ago and ended within a day ...
  • I think the 10 mp sensor of the D200 will have about 58% more resolution than the 4 mp D2h -- not "more than double". Here's how I believe the math goes on that:  Visualize an old TV set with the ...
  • Thanks, arbie1.  This was one of the more helpful responses.
  • The OP also posted this in the Pro Digital Talk forum -- tacking it onto a 7-month-old thread.  There,  I too commented on the poor grammar.  I didn't read the whole write up, but noticed grammar ...
  • What a bummer.  Do the folks here who are among the "I only shoot Raw" crowd actually apply different sharpening control settings in the Raw Converter that are individualized to the content of ...
  • I suggest you track down someone who is well educated with respect to English grammar and have them proof-read your work before publishing it. I noticed a minor grammatical error in your forum ...
  • Thanks, Craig.  You seem to understand exactly what I am talking about. "Capture sharpening" is just the low level adjustment to correct for the un-sharpness created by the anti-alias filter and ...
