I was simply referring to the technical difference in capability between sensors and lenses. Photographers are the biggest factor in a camera's ability ;)

You should be comparing lens quality and sensor sizes. They are the light gathering and image capturing mechanism.Considering that, p&s will not compare favourably with a canon DSLR.Michael

It's no surprise the M240 is technically more than or equal to the MM, colour processing aside. Personally, I prefer B&W and would choose the MM even if slightly inferior to the M240. Michael

...and attrocious ISO performance. If you're good at photoshop, then there's no reason not to get an M9 ;-)

I used to shoot Canon, my last camera being a 5D Mark II.  The Monochrom records a greater range of tone than I could convert from the 5DII. The ISO on the Monochrom is far superior, and more...

I would say you are keen and capable, but haven't yet settled for a particular style. This is no sleight, I look forward to seeing your images. I would suggest sticking to a 'real' 35mm single...
