Is FX betterShould I get a D600 or D800Why price drop on D600Green cast on D800You don't have to open the thread and read it, no big deal to skip over the threads that you are not interested in.

The hair looks ok. Not sure what you did with the skin treatment? Or is this a special effect you were going for?
-
Thanks, didn't know that. Hope that is a firmware fix. I don't use it all that often, but it is real handy and works great when you do.
-
I I find that strange,,. I don't see the D800 not having a function the D300 has? I don't know that it does, I would have to look it up, just seems strange

Not sure if you having the person walk towered you on a predetermined route (Like a runway model). Set up the trap focus to where you want to get the picture, when the person walks into the focus...

Thanks, don't know much about non Nikon lenses. Interesting lens, seems to be a good lens. I would not get rid of that lens over the Nikon lens unless you test the Nikon and just really like it...
-
what is your reason for thinking so? just D800 & D600 together, leave the D700 in with the D1,D2,D3,D4?
-
Well, since you have both of them, I would run a few tests and see what lens you like the most. almost zero wear and tear on a new lens to run a few tests. Do you need the faster lens? I don't...

I would try to adjust the skin tones, they look a little on the green side. Not sure if you were asking for CC, you didn't say

You don't say what you shoot? wide landscape and low light are two advantages of FX. I'm guessing for how you are using your camera, there will not be an big advantage moving to FX. The D7000...

Does it just not work, or is something broken in it, moving around or bent?I have never used the usb port on any of my DSLR cameras. Do you use it for something other then file transfer, like...

I'm not sure how much smaller they will be. Cheaper might be true.It would have to be one hell of a lens to pick it over the 135 F2 DC :-)

OK, I get what you are saying. Not sure I know why it needs to be a DX prime. All FX prime lenses are really DX lenses. For a larger zoom they can make the lens smaller and lighter by making it...
-
Wide angle primes are expensive. What other SLR manufacture makes a lot of wide angle primes? I guess I should ask you what is wide angle to you, what focal length are you looking for? Also,...

OK. thanks. Really like your writeup, nice to hear the point of view from a D300 shooter on the D800 that did not buy it yet, and is not defending their new camera :-) I don't need to upgrade...
-
Nice writeup John,Very useful to current D300 owners. Were you able to get 6fps in DX mode? or was that also slow? Wonder why you were not able to get 4fps out of the camera. Not sure what the...

Too much in what way? It's the updated D700
-
Outstanding shot! A great reminder, thinking back how happy you probably were with the output of the D300 on that day that it is still that good. Nothing wrong with wanting an update, but I don't...

I think there are some sport shooters with the D700 that have been waiting for the D700 replacement camera to match/or/exceed the 8fps and 51 focus points in the D700. For that segment of users...
