I use a Canon G15 myself for baby and toddler in and outdoors when I don't have my DSLR. Never needed a flash except for when they're moving too much.
But if you can afford one, go for the Sony...

The G15 is a huge improvement over the G10, especially in the areas of autofocus speed, low-light performance (much faster lens), noise at higher ISO...
And of course the G15 is easier to handle...

Not "P/S is dead" but small sensor P/S is dead. Camera manufacturers had better wise up and go the RX100 route (at least) instead of insisting on 1/2.3" and 1/1.7".
