Elaka, unfortunately the G15's HDR mode was also worthless - completely unusable without a tripod and no control over the tiny exposure range. :(

Jostian, unfortunately there's a big difference between "similar IQ" and "same IQ". Not to speak of a fast lens on the tele side.

I Agree.
P mode and definitely -1/3 or even -2/3 exposure sometimes, especially when shooting faces in outside light to avoid loss of detail and skin texture due to clipping.

I use a Canon G15 myself for baby and toddler in and outdoors when I don't have my DSLR. Never needed a flash except for when they're moving too much.
But if you can afford one, go for the Sony...
