Thanks for the feedback!  Yes, I thought that was interesting too.
  • Created discussions More XV test shots
The more I shoot it, the more I like it.
  • And the 4th one is nice too.  The others don't do much for me.  But that 3rd one is just captivating, and it shouldn't be.  Just a shot of the ocean and sky, but nevertheless it's really...
  • ... I'm not fond of the PP.  Too dark for me, too much black.  The "here" link just brings up the larger image, not the PP explanation.
  • Nice.  Especially that graffiti shot. Superb composition!  Just love it!  I need to start thinking more kindly towards graffiti artists...
  • Interesting.  I'm kinda' old school, I guess, and like having my lens shaded from direct light.  I also don't like having extra glass over my lens - more reflections and possible distortions.  But...
  • No great art here, just more (perhaps) fun samples.  I like this camera, but have to get over it's not being an M9 with top primes, nor a D800e with top glass.  I'll get there 'cause this is so...

Another like.  Amazing.  Makes me feel better!  Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Much appreciated!  The big version really shows the light and texture.  For some strange reason, I really like looking at it.  I admit that it is an odd picture to like so much.
  • Thanks for posting this, Louis.  I like them both equally, but for different reasons.  The mood and mystery of the B&W captures the imagination, but the colors blow the mind with eye candy. How did...
  • Well done!  Yes, the larger size does view better.  Thanks! I'm curious what the color version looks like...
  • I was surprised to have this happen, but the filter pushes the good out too far for 28mm.  Perhaps a thin filter would work better?

Thanks John.  Kind words are nice.  I was expecting a bash.  Got the XV today and took more test shots.  Will post soon.
  • Nice.  (Shallow focus.  The air conditioner is sharp.) So, enlightened now?  :-)
  • Created discussions Leica X Vario
I haven't posted here for quite awhile, since I sold my M9 and all my wonderful Leica primes. I loved using that system, and the results were terrific. But I could not justify keeping it, as I have...

I do see white lines all across the horizon, and wondering where that come from.  Processing, I suspect.  Can you tell me about this? My XV comes tomorrow.  I'm excited!
  • My XV arrives tomorrow.  I'm excited! I too use Topaz Detail, but the "2" version.  I compared it with "3" and preferred "2", as I recall.  Must retest that conclusion though. I only take 1/3 of...
  • Commented on Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX1 Review preview

The Leica comparison in the Introduction is dated. Leica now offers the X Vario at basically the same price point, but with a zoom. I prefer it, from the little testing and comparing I've done.

  • Please tell me more about this feature.  My XV comes tomorrow.  Thanks!

Why not compare this to the Leica X Vario? I've looked closely at the output from both, and the Vario is hands down a better camera, and at the same price point. The Vario offers a 24 - 70mm...
