I'm sorry, do you think that the business of photography is limited to weddings and senior portraits?? I fully participate in the business of photography.

Good glass holds its value quite well. I think buying and selling lenses is not a bad practice at all.

I believe "pro level" equipment is more accessible to amateurs than ever. 20 years ago, only pros had SLRs with 70-200mm lenses. Now, my 70-year-old Dad has full fame DLSR with fast primes. Couple...

Sounds like "real pro" needs to step-up his/her game.

It's a good analogy, but I have a slightly different take. I would say YES, BMW does in fact worry about KIA (I live in LA and know several people who work at BMW design center...so that's not a...

Wow! Ridiculous. The only mistake the OP made as posting his first wedding here! This "pro" forum filled (or at least there's a loud minority) with a bunch of bitter, defensive, pessimistic,...

...and I also understand what I can control.

As usual, pretty presumptuous. It really, really bothers you that an amateur could actually do a first wedding and the b&g be happy. It strikes such a strong emotional chord with you. You really...

Hi,
Earlier this year, I did some experimenting with long exposures...made a short blog entry on the subject here: http://jeffseltzerphotography.com/blog/2013/7/17/maui-long-exposures

Some good shots, some very good shots, some poor shots, and some very poor shots. You know what? I bet you could say the same thing about many of the photographers on this pro forum. I think you...

X-Pro1 has interchangeable lenses. Fuji glass is considered among the best available, certainly on par with L lenses in terms of IQ.
-
Good advice, much appreciated.

Thanks! I actually did post in Fuji forum and it was moved by someone!

So, I now use my X-Pro1 (35mm, 60mm) probably 99% of the time. I've slowly sold off my Canon lenses, and now I only have the 5DII body and 135L left - a combination specially saved for portraits...

Okay, I get it. But, I disagree. Sorry. All things equal, I want a bigger senor. Remember, I own both X-Pro1 and 5DII, so I understand the trade-offs just fine.
-
That's really stupid. I'll tell you what, let me take a product image (e.g., diamond ring) with a G10 and a Phase One P45+, load the raw files into Capture One, then let's see if I can tell the...

To all the haters below...don't worry, I'm sure it's only a matter of time before DPR features your museum quality pictures of babies, sunsets, butterfly macros, and cats...hold tight!

Good grief.
Let me ask you this: are you trying to suggest that sensor size makes NO difference? So, by that logic, we are all suckers for paying extra for an crop sensor? Why not just use a 1/2.3...
-
Okay, sorry to generalize. In my experience, all things equal, full frame produces a more pleasing result vs. crop sensor. Underscore "all things equal." That said, I think the X-Pro1 with crop...

I have both full frame (5DII) and X-Pro1. Full frame DOES make a difference. X-Pro1 is great, but would be even better with full frame size sensor. Would be even better with medium format size...
