I own the Nikon 17-55. Let me say first that I was initially considering the Sigma and Tammy as well but I couldn't be happier that I went with the Nikon. The AF on my D7000 really comes to life...

I am always in favour of shooting at f/8 and 100 ISO when possible, but having done some astrophotography myself, depending on what the desired results are, shooting at ISO 400-1250 at f/2.2-f/2.8...

Thanks for the information Glenn. I was seriously considering putting a few of my very best to sell in stock but I wasn't sure about it. My biggest fear is, once people get the downloads, can't...

We're experiencing temperatures of around -30˚C here in Montreal. I snapped these today on my window. Used my 50mm lens with 3 extension tubes (12mm, 20mm, 36mm stacked) to give me greater than...

I had posted here, asking for the best places to view the Manhattan skyline. I came back from a very enjoyable trip and have a few shots to share. The shots of the Manhattan Bridge and Grand...

If I bought a lens in that price point, I would expect perfect AF as long as it is not user error...

Thanks for the information. I was also looking at getting a 5-stop ND filter. Do poor quality ND filters also reduce sharpness and create flare? Any recommendations on half-decent 77mm sub-$100...

I'm looking for a circular polarizer and an ND filter for my lens. I checked amazon.com and there are filters from Vivitar, Polaroid and all sorts of third-party brands which are SIGNIFICANTLY...

Personally, I did not find the 16-85 to be that much better than the 18-105. I used both lenses. Yes, perhaps marginally, it was better, but the lens is still way overpriced IMHO. I bought a...

Thanks to all for the great advice. Should be a fantastic trip.

The landscape shots in this link are kinda what I'm going for here:http://thumbpress.com/40-amazing-pictures-of-new-york-city/If only mine were as good as those!

I like the B&W more than the colour version. Where in Montreal are you located? Sure isn't that nice downtown...

Thanks for the reply. I'm quite sure it can take a drenching, not that I would try it, but I wouldn't be too worried if it happened. Even my "lowly" D7K has been in snow and rain tons of times...

Top of the Rock looks great from Google images. Still open to more suggestions.

Nice shot. I'll see if I can get on that. Any spots in the city?

I just got my Nikon 17-55 and it really works wonders on my D7K. I was out shooting in the rain yesterday and I didn't have my lens hood on me. I wasn't worried about the rain at all however,...

I'm going to NYC in a couple weeks time and I want to know from you guys, where can I get good views for good cityscape shots? Ideally, I would like the place to be free to get access to (obviously...
