Got mine today ;-) Had to pay a bit more here in Denmark (£435/$665).

OK, on a Nikon DX camera the lens has app. the same light-gathering capability as a 27-53mm, f/2.7 lens on FF, and on Canon APS-C it's (FoV, noise and DoF/diffraction) equivalent to app. 29-56mm,...

Haven't noticed anything about a SteadyShot scale in the A58 handbook.. but the point could be that it tells you how much you're shaking (which could be helpful).
-
Not quite sure (don't have a SLT camera yet), but think it's correct, and don't think that IBIS works when shooting video either (think that 'Steady shot' is digital/electronic when shooting video).
-
Should work, but not if using lock-on AF (A58 handbook p. 110).
-
They also shoot from different distances depending on the FL when testing lenses on FF. Is that unfair? What else should they do? The 300/2.8L II doesn't seem to suffer much from the greater...
-
Well, you'll have to look at the finer lines where the difference will be rather clear (see for example around '24', which represents 2400 LPH).
-
Like I said, then I think that DPR uses the EF 85/1.8 on Canon FF and the 50/1.4 on Canon APS-C. The studio scene has changed since the 5D review, but think that the same resolution test chart was...
-
From DPR's 5D and 7D reviews - horisontal/vertical resolution (extinction resolution) :
5D - 2300/2000 (2500/2500) LPH
7D - 2500/2450 (3100/3050) LPH
That's the problem here.. according to DxO's...

Wondering, how does for example your 70-200/4L IS perform on the Q, compared to e.g. the kit lens (if you have it) that's designed for the smaller format (if the framing of the subject is the same)?
-
Well, we're usually not looking at 24x36mm prints from a FF camera. If e.g. viewing at 100% on our monitor, then the image is magnified quite a bit.
-
Not 100% sure, but think that DPR uses EF 85/1.8 on Canon FF and EF 50/1.4 on Canon APS-C. Agree that the 5D has better sharpness/contrast/acutance, but the 7D's higher MP count will most often...
-
A bit of sharpening makes it easier to see. It's clearly visible if comparing the resolution test chart shots in DPR's 5D and 7D reviews.
-
Yes, thanks to KLO82 for that.
We can also see that the 7D actually has a higher resolution. The 5D's MTF curve stops at app. 61 lp/mm because it runs out of vertical pixels (app. 61 lp/mm...

Took a look at the E-M5 vs. the 5.6x crop SX50 set at 3 stops lower ISO. SNR 18% and DR.
EM-5 at measured ISO 3200 - 24 dB - 8.5 Ev
SX50 at measured ISO 400 - 26.5 dB - 9.5 Ev
Seems that the SX50...

The G5 sensor is app. 8x larger, which can be translated to app. 3 stops better high ISO performance (assuming equally efficient sensors), so the f/2.8 lens on FZ200 isn't fast enough to make up...
-
Yes, would be nice if they told us a bit more about how the P-Mpix score is derived, but it's easy enough to translate P-Mpix to a linear measure. If a 3:2 sensor + a lens 'resolves' for example 6...
-
DxO's P-Mpix is an area measure, not a linear measure like lp/mm or lp/ph.
