  • Lens diameter goes up in proportion to sensor size. Lens mass (glass) goes up as the CUBE of sensor size. So you'd expect the glass in FF lenses to be roughly 8x heavier. This isn't just physics,...

  • I tend to view this site on an ipad, and only the predefined points of interest work (how long has this bug been around?). The queen isn't a target because the folks at dpreview don't consider it...

  • So it appears to be slightly sharper and has lower CA than Nikon's older 24-70. More interestingly the new 24-70 f4 IS is almost as sharp, better in other respects, and has stabilization.

  • The big deal is the new lens's MTF chart — it looks wicked sharp. It seems a bit pricey for shooting high school sports.

  • At least as currently priced it's barely cheaper than a 70-200 f2.8 and 2x teleconverter.

  • Metal construction perhaps and it's half a stop faster.

  • Patent litigation is as old as patent law, much older than IBM, let alone Apple or Microsoft.

  • Speaking as a D7000 owner who has considered dumping it for a smaller system — having upgraded from a D5000 my biggest issue with the D7000 is its size and weight. I imagine this is exactly the...

  • @Nishi really? Sounds delusional to me.

Canon can do inventory management and QA. Canon knows how to do settings banks and where to put buttons. Canon understands video. Canon makes it clear which...

    Same as D600.

They all go to high fps while locking AF, etc. and they don't need to flip up a mirror between shots. As for a D300s replacement — the low fps and small buffer clearly indicate that this is not it.

  • Despite all the bad stuff going on in the world, from global warming to authoritarian government to civil war to recession, it's probably the best time in history to be alive (for humans)....

  • If Nikon released a digital FM2 or Canon a digital A1 they'd sell a truckload (and Fuji would cry). Canon does have the disadvantage here in having changed lens mounts. It's a shame Pentax is...

  • The category thing is kind of nuts, as is the generational comparison, fixed percentage scale, and value being a factor. Use an absolute scale and leave "value" out of it since it will change. Then...
