FX for hi-iso IQ and thinner DOF; DX for reach & more DOF. Best of both worlds. I really like having an FX + DX combo as 1st & 2nd cameras. Only problem with this is that you would actually need a...

Man, you need a d4. As for me, I'm done w/ the monster cameras. Much prefer the smaller ones now.--joeyv

You forgot: Full AF during video. Much better than the Nikon dslrs. Also capturing full res. stills while shooting video.
Actually, I find the V1 a better casual family camera than the dslrs. I...

Thanks for all the responses. Appreciate the observations.
Yes, the D600 iso 6400 is indeed tempting. However, I prefer to shoot with 2 cameras. Generally w/ the D3 & 24-70 and the other w/ longer...

Thanks for your input. I guess I'll have to rent one to find out for myself.

Debating whether to get the D7100 or D600. Like the body of D7100 more. D600 is nice for hi-iso but the difference might not matter that much for my applications as I print normally only up to 11"...

D600 coverage is smaller, obviously. So long as focus is accurate on all points, it should be good enough for most applications.

Wow! Specially like #2 and the last one.

For natural looking proportions:
Preferably not wider than the FF equivalent of 35 mm. for full body shots. 50 mm. if you have the space.
FF equivalent of 50 mm. for half body shots.
FF equivalent...

Not even close. Get the newer camera. D2x is good only up to iso 320-400. I doubt that it focuses more accurately or tracks better than the D300 or D7100. And the LCD, major difference there. DR is...

Guy posted his real world samples. RAW images don't lie. While samples are a bit underexposed and not the sharpest (probably due to camera shake), they do give an idea of noise performance. I am...

Straight conversion with ACR 7.4. Profile: Camera Portrait. WB= As shot. Default sharpening (L=0, c=25, CD=50), Had to pull up exposure as shot was underexposed a little.
This is iso 3200 shot....

Finally! New product testing & development is over. Time for me to buy one! Yes.

Thanks for the samples. They are valid real-world shooting samples except that they were processed w/ too much NR. If you can post the non-NR'ed images, like you did with the iso 6400 image, that...

Looks horrible because of too much NR. Can evaluate the camera better if the samples are w/o NR.
Thanks.

If you are getting into weddings seriously and often: buy the SB910. Recharging time is faster. Action won't wait for you and you want to minimize missed shots because your flash isn't ready. It is...

Not often I hear a professional who complains about the camera he is using as producing underexposed images. I guess, some expect the tools nowadays to do everything by itself. Only skill that the...

Disagree. Hardly makes a "visual" difference when shooting from iso 100 to 1600. Only beyond that where FX excels. DX has come a long way. I remember D2x being only good up to iso 320.
Only thing...

Nikon D7100 or D5200 or the new Canon EOS 100D/sl3. Nice work Canon did on making their dx dslr smaller.

Have you tried using the flash AF assist light with the flash itself set "not to fire"? Might help with the AF at those color temps. as a work-around. As I mentioned before, it is a new AF system...
