It would be better idea to put articulating screen and keeping built-in flash. Possible owners of this camera (likes control, yet pocketable) would not mind to be without evf.

Hopefully Panasonic's decision will be correct one.

Ben O Connor: İts like rolex watch. Surely there are multi functional army watches by far better priced from Casio
Or there are thousand other car brands. No need the drive Rolls-Royce ...

IT - IS - A -UNIQUE - LUXURY- ITEM !!!

I also don't see ANY logic to buy something exact same than Panasonic models. But this one is UNIQUE !

Hmmm so you are one of the few who buys Hasselblad stellar. Sure I have no idea what I'm talking about ;)

I am not rich. And as long as "exact same!" Why should I pay more ? LX100's leica sister is a bit better in this way. At least has different outlook and optional metal grip. Other than that....

One good thing about LX100; its leica sister is just 50€ more expensive. Offers same specs and optional grip is more beautiful than one on Panasonic.

But still that dum-bass add on flash! I wish leica would give their own old brick looking flash with it.

Not my choice anyway. I wish the best to its owners.

Dear DPR,

I know technology is improving and those small sensors (with smaller than 1") p&s are history now. But it still bugle my mind "aren't those cameras in the same segment are point and shoot cameras?"

In the other hand; I love to compare their skills with other Interchangeable lens cameras... But then it keeps to be confusing. For example; how come its built quality outperformed weather sealed bodies of other candidates (such as E-M1) or does it really focusing higher than GH4 ? Really?

Thanks for your effort testing all those technology. I made my decision to buy XZ-1 back in 2011 thanks to your review. And I always use your studio samples even now. Many new buyers around the world does take your opinions very seriously. We like you.

Seems like, quite a camera here! Back then Olympus XZ -1 was able to reach gold medal by 74 points abs and now it 85!!!! Its impressive.

However, as an owner of couple lenses, I want to stay on PEN bodies and I can use my glass on Lumix bodies in future. I prefer flexibility over "all singing all dancing" camera.

Forgot to mention; add on flash is ridiculous! Paying 1.000€ and still possibility to forget the thing? Which also disturbingly ugly looking one!

Imagine; 35mm is actually equivalent of 24mm !!! Brother of a friend of mine is a photographic with many weird stuff and he says

"90mm is a super wide in my cameras!" And when he says "its compact", he means "camera can fold form front to back and fit to a backpack! While tripod is attached to side of the same backpack..."

Dear God, you know how much want this model of Pentax... Please allow me to win coming weekend lottery...

Amen...

nofumble: 7 axis stabization system coming soon.

Folks!

I love ibis. And without it, there is no way to be without a tri or monopods at 85mm or beyond ( consider the weight centre of the cam together with lens and the distance...). BUT

Further it goes, becomes more ridiculous! In physics there are X,Y,Z axises... And if you thin their negative side and it makes it roughly 6 axis ! And then we got time axis !!! Which has no negative side (as long as you can't invent the device to go backwards in time :) )

Toooo much axises to explain man! Took much axises :D

What are the 7axises of a thing ? Or even 18axises ??? Does it includes the "time" axis ? Will it keep its value constant? No shaken prices :D

Yeah... Because they couldn't hide the "real stuff!" So they deserves to be closed down !

Man... Brands such as Hasselblad or Leica should also consider producing 3rd party stuff. For example; if hasselblad produce this amazing piece of wood and sold it (let's say for 99€ ) they would made jack of a money.

Or leica would produce stuff like thumb grip for also Panasonic m43 stuff (lets say for 39€) they would get serious amount of cash to their bank accounts.

Panasonic listen to this;

You have made a 20mm F 1.7 pancake.... Then you made 14mm F 2.5 pancake.

Now can you make something in between and still pancake ?

Something like 17,5mm F 1.8 for example... And still pancake.

Thank you.

Long story short; this camera has no superlatives over gx7. However it has the best multipurpose lens on it ever made for m43 system.

Besides gx7 is a body only camera. So its not any better at all. I wish to see smilar spec. lens even bigger (as big as Olympus 40-150 4.0-5.6)
