I have read that "Both the 5D mkIII and the D4 are substantially less noisy than the D800 at ISO 3200". No doubt this is due to the D800's smaller pixels and extra resolution.
Then there is this...

I imagine his organisation has a pool of cameras that the photographers use. No doubt he knew it was a Nikon or else he wouldn't know how to 'drive' it. It can't have been his personal camera.

I have the 24-105 f4 L for my 5D and it is a good lens. Yes the 24-70 2.8 will be a bit brighter and probably a bit sharper but as a general lens for Canon FF I have been very happy.

I think he needs to prefocus.
The 5dMK111 or 6D would be more suitable to low light than the D800 which is more about high resolution than low light. For that you I think you need a D3 or D4.

Maybe the photographer doesn't know that you can rotate the camera and take a portrait shot! Just saying! Actually I don't understand why photographers go to so much trouble with multiple shots...

Indeed! Some people are not appreciative of the help others may give. Anyway let him find out for himself. He has a camera coming after all. I am going elswhere. Cheerio!

I think you mean 16-50. Yes the 18-55 is a very sharp lens. I guess Fuji are trying to cater to all price points.

I think it is actually a bit overexposed due to the noise in the dark area. Probably should have been EV -1.5 or -2.

All my images are opened up in ACR and I run a standard action set in Photoshop and then tweak a bit more to my liking.
Raw images all need post processing like this. Either an image is processed...

Can't agree with this. I had an SD14 and the images it produced only required basic processing. My 5D needs more to get the same level of pop. Only thing is the SD14 white balance was usually too...

Smart Dougy actually! : )

Frans Lanting is National Geographic's Premier photographer and one of the modern greats. He is a master of light and one of favorite (if not my favorite) photographers.

Did you read the article headline?

I bought a Fuji S2 pro in 2004 based on the fact it printed well at A2 size and didn't have any noticeable digital artifacts. This was 6Mp (interpolated to 12Mp - so probably kind of 8Mp).
After...

Hmm…so bigger pixels are better? Does that mean the Mp war is over and my 5D mk1 is back in vogue?

If you want native low ISO of 100 you will sacrifice good hi ISO.

Entry level FF is a bit of an oxymoron.

Canon do the same. It's inevitable that they will refine the layout but frustrating too if you own more than one body and the controls are quite different or - even worse - only a little different....
