Replied in Rebel T3i SD Card Types and Maximum Speeds, SDHC, SDXC, UHS-1 Discussion
That's really useful for those people who use the Magic Lantern firmware and shoot video at high bitrates. I've no idea what's the fastest protocol my 550D supports, and my most frequently used...

Replied in Resources for learning
Before you start buying anything you should find what you need. I would buy an EX430II before any polarizer/prime/tripod because I need it most, yours needs are probably different. Some people...

Replied in T1i vs T3i
I've used T1i and T2i for shooting video, sometimes both at the same time, and there's a HUGE difference. There's so much more noise in the T1i at high-ish ISOs (1600) than in the T2i, especially...

Replied in NiMH or hybrid rechargeable batteries.
In certain conditions, I find a bounce card gives me much better results. The 430 doesn't have one included, I bought a cheap plastic one that comes with a velcro (hook-and-loop) strap and a hinge,...

Replied in USM autofocus during video
Your camera won't autofocus properly in video mode, just accept it.
To make MF easier, I recommend a cheap lcd viewfinder, I bought one from ebay (around 10$, i guess) and it's great! It allows...

Replied in Indecisive on my purchase
Good luck using it on the T2i. Without af microadjust and with a much inferior AF sensor compared to the 60D you'll be focusing manually most of the time. And it's not an easy thing, to manually...

Replied in Canon 270EX-II on T2i
The 430 EXII is much better, IMO. Have one myself. And LED video lights are getting better, brighter and cheaper by the day, I'll buy one soon...

Replied in 600d - Video only shoots for 6 seconds. Why?
Yes, go out there and buy one with the number 10 inside the circle. 16GB has the best price-per-GB these days, I guess. You don't have to buy the most expensive, but there are some cheap brands you...

Replied in why not do your OWN COMPARISON TEST?
The difference between several samples of the same lens is likely to be greater than the difference between versions. The version II supposedly can detect when it's on a tripod or panning, and tell...

Replied in Back to Canon w/ t3i... a couple lens questions
Having sensor IS with prime lens and other lenses not available with IS is really great! And at wide angle, and very slow shutter speeds the in-body IS is as good as or better than in-lens IS, from...

Replied in NFL Game - 7D & 70-200 MKII
There's no way I'd leave that in the car! I'd loose the game and go home. But I had a camera stolen from the car once...

Replied in T2I + Zoom H1 Recorder Mount Pics
As for the cable to run to the camera, I like to use those retractable ones, cheap on ebay and really useful. Can be as short and as long as you want (within limits of course).

Replied in T2I + Zoom H1 Recorder Mount Pics
I'm pretty sure a shock mount is needed if you're hand-holding the camera. That would be just perfect if it was made of some kind of rubber that could absorb vibrations!

Replied in Sub $1000 combo recommendations
BTW, the Tamron 60mm macro is cheaper than the canon and quite good, and is an f/2 lens. It would be much better if she wanted to shoot some portraits occasionally, for example.

Replied in Sub $1000 combo recommendations
A compact camera with good lighting will do much better than a 600D in bad lighting. Don't forget to budget for flashes and modifiers! The 600D+60mm is a great combo, but completely useless (and...

Replied in 550D (T2i) shutter counter
It shows with magic lantern. Not sure if it's very accurate, though, but it's been improved a while back.

Replied in 550d and 18-200mm Sigma without IS - a problem?
That's not a very good lens, even if it had IS it wouldn't be that good. Poorly constructed, one thing that seriously annoys me is if you turn the zoom ring, the focus ring also turns, at least on...
-
Replied in My 550d arrived in a white box
I wouldn't worry too much if it comes with a warranty card and everything else. Unless it says "refurbished" somewhere and you paid full price! ;) It all depends how much you paid for it, I've...

Replied in Battery Grip and AA's
I bought the cheapest battery grip I could find on ebay, and it came with 2 batteries. It's been over a year and they're working just fine, last at least as long as the OEMs. For the price of an...

Replied in Last February...
Hard to improve that much without changing the sensor or making it much better than the 60D and 7D. Although features like focus microadjust would be nice, that won't happen. Anyway, I'll stick to...
