Actually next years sony "DSLRs" are rumored to have no mirror at all, but still a-mount.

Impressive, most impressive.

Mine has shipped too. Interesting.

Have you considered the Sigma 8-16mm via an LA-EA2 (or even an LA-EA1 if AF speed doesnt matter)?
Works very well for me if a little bulky.

I use this:

Cheaper version of Henry's version. Ive got 2 and each lens has a customised slot. Yes, I agree, sad.....

Please keep posting - I always enjoy a good laugh.

This is complete drivel. I've owned 2 18-55s and the 16-50 on a NEX3/5N&6:
The 16-50 was produced with the 6, not the 3N.
The reason the NEX7 uses the black 18-55 is because it is OUTDATED and...

58 1.4 is a lovely lens.
The others don't know, but the older minoltas at least take the same adapter as the 58 1.4. Adapters are on ebay (MD-NEX adapter) and cost very little.

Just to be clear, I wasn't querying your test shots at all.
They're very helpful and it's great to see people making the effort to post "normal use" tests. My point was simply that I consider lens...

Totally agree. Compare the final image of set scenes for a true, modern, like for like comparison.
It can be a test scene, whatever, but the final image that can be achieved automatically.
-
No it isn't - Some lenses are designed with Software correction specifically required (eg the 16-50). Others are not. If you compare an old lens (pre software correction) with a modern lens...
-
How is software correction "cheating". It allows otherwise impossible lens designs.
I'm all for "cheating" if the end result is the same.
-
Agree.
However widely panned by miss-informed people (including on this forum) based on uncorrected Raws.
16-50 is a great lens.... but only when corrected....

As a curveball Nikon 1 series is a good option too.
There are some great deals around on the last gen, realise its not a P&S but you can use it as one for sure (just leave the zoom on it).
The fast...

Hi Marc,

Ive got a Sigma 70-300mm F/4-5.6 DG OSĀ on my NEX5N & 6 with LA-EA2. It works fine and has the (rare) benefit of working stabilisation.
Focus is fast, sharpness is perfectly fine (I find better at...

What zoom range is he used to?
If you try and push him from a super zoom to a "normal" range as a P&S guy he'll probably think its junk.
Zoom range is a big deal to many P&S users.

I'm in that boat too, the Fujis are very tempting (esp if they beat sony to market with a FF).
Currently the reason I'm staying with Sony is principally focus peaking. If Fuji get peaking right...

The Chinese fake Kipons are FAR rougher from my experience than the real kipons. I have 3 adapters for my contax gs (and the AF one to come too):
Fake Kipon - Very rough feeling and not that fun to...

No, it would be great (and thats what the 7 is).
However, another control wheel would be another *customisable* control wheel (ie not dedicated). I'm all in favor of extra customisable controls...
