About me:

End up doing something involving Photography before I die, whether that be another career or early retirement. I should apply for Ricoh in a month or two--I'm sure I could lend them some bright ideas on how to revitalize the Pentax Brand in hopes of getting their Market Share up to double digits.

I'm looking to buy the Pentax FA 31 1.8 as my next lens. I'm curious if this picture was taken with that lens?

I love the idea of staying with the same body (-) not being able to drill a hole in the body somewhere to mount a button in it for a one-touch video record feature. I can-not believe that they did not replace the video record format to H264 format. I hope the improved auto-focus fixes up the tungsten light focus issues that it has. Other than that...lol, I aint buying one, unless my K-7 get's stolen, then I might think about the K-5 IIs. My K5 does just fine for what they've added to the new models.

I always love it when people post pictures w/o EXIF data to real tell the viewers how the photo was shot. Nice shot, but for all we know it could have been shot with a D3s or D4???

I really love the stars that you can obtain on lights with the Pentax DA* 16-50mm lens. This along with the incredible build quality of the lens was the deal-breaker in my runner-up choice...the DA 17-70. I would still someday love to have that lens as well.

Your definately good at what you do, but youre using equipment that is way beyond K-10D and Promaster 70-300mm f4-5.6 quality. That was the whole point of that post. I saw the one of the Osprey with your K-100D, but the Bird didn't look like it was moving too fast...lol. If I was going to get into action photography whether that be Animals or Athletes--I'd go with something like the D3s with awesome tracking abilities.

Put this SLT-A77 against the Pentax K-5, RAW, ISO 3200. Any Questions?

Ok, & the Verdict is in--It sucks. I'm not sure why these camera manufactures are making these compact interchangable lens cameras? Is it because they need a new market to fix their P&S which are becoming extinct because of Smart Phones that can take near as good of pictures as them? Or is it a genius idea that they hope that thos people will fall in love with and better P&S camera and like the advantages of interchangible lens cameras and be more likely to buy a real DSLR some day?

I'm not as impressed by either the Pentax-Q or this Camera in their attempt to make a mini DSLR that can shoot as good as “A” DSLR. They chose one of the ugliest places to shoot and it's really hard to tell what this camera is really capable of, but, under similar light and gloom—it’s not anywhere near most APC-S sensor DSLR in terms of image quality. I’ve seen some really good samples of the Pentax-Q that would challenge this camera on IQ, but we really need a side-by-side comparison test to crown a champ. In briefly reading up on these two cameras that Nikon and Pentax make considering the build quality, design, features, I tip my hat to the Q over the J1, but I’m not surprised because Pentax spent a considerable amount of money and time building there Q.

Only two features missing that would make this camera a winner in my book. 1080i HD Video in H264 format--pretty standard these days. mini HDMI Out--what's the point of having 16MP if you can't view it on your HD LCD or Plasma?

On Nikon shares rise as Nikkei suggests mirrorless launch article (115 comments in total)

Ok guys, I'm not a Canon or Nikon Fan. I started off with a Canon, but lost interest in them when I experianced more downtime than shoot-time. As far as it goes for loyalty as towards a brand once you fall in love, I know all about that. It's silly to switch unless your needs switch once you've invested several thousands of dollars into a brand. As far as it goes for Nikon and there idea of mirror-less interchangable lens camera? hmm. Sony's new camera; loosing 30% of your light, having to wory about $$$ factory cleaning if anything gets permanently on the transparent glass, all for a few more or even two-fold max fps shoot rate? I've always been a fan of the sniper and not the AK-47 point'n'spray tactic which will leave you dry on a later important shot while your waiting for buffer to clear. If anything Nikon should implement image stablilization into their body and forget putting it in their select lenses. Nikon explain; 17-55 f2.8 no VR $1,540 vs 16-85 f3.5-5.6 w. VR $700
