Chiemsee: By the way, is it unproblematic to access the SAME raw files in a given directory structure with DIFFERENT raw converters?
E.g. LR4 and Photo Ninja... do the share the same xmp-file?? Are the settings completely independent?
Raw converson software providers offer their own individual recipe for processing the RAW sensor data.
So they are not compatible, this is the whole idea of shooting in RAW format , you have the choice of choosing your chef so that you have the taste you prefer.
The competition is what drives the improvements in the processing of raw files. There is no correct/ best "RECIPE". Enjoy.
All very good raw processing software in their own rights. However there are at least six other programs that can offer matching quality conversions. The competition is great and will ensure we continue to see continued improvements.
It would be interesting if there would also be a change to the policy with respect Lightroom? Will LR version 1 and 2 customers be able to upgrade to version 4.
Denis de Gannes: Why no comparison to the conversion of the raw file with the Olympus software Viewer?
Why would one want to compare the results of the camera using a "Beta " profile from Adobe. I expect the results would be updated when the release version is available.

Great shot getting there alone and ensuring your E1 worked would have been a challenge. I am sure my e510 would not have been functional.
Very good capture. Did pretty well in the ratings even though the theam was "Beautiful Blue Skys"
Truly a fantastic capture.
