Dearest Oli form DxO labs,

This is part three now of the unethical yearly DxO fundraising rally.

quote from the DxO labs website:
"SALE EXTENDED TO JANUARY 31st."

Now here my question to you again:
Isn't it a highly dubious business practice
to pressure people into buying
by continuously setting false discount deadlines ?

So far all my predictions regarding the DxO case were right
and your excuses... well ... they were just excuses
... weren't they :-)

Dear Olivier from DXO Labs

Thank you for helping me to fulfill my prophecy :

SALE EXTENDED TO JANUARY 31st

This is just further proof for DXO lab's unethical business practice.

You are pressuring people into buying
by setting false deadlines !!!

Dear Oli,

I am writing to alert the dpreview community,

that for the second year in a row
DxO labs is pressuring people into buying their products
by using strongly defined deadlines.

Since these deadlines are never kept,
but always extended ad libidum,
one must conclude that this is all done
for the sole purpose of a marketing and revenue scheme.

Best regards,
Sandy

P.S.
DxO is lucky to get away with this,
as there are many countries where such an advertising scheme
may be scrutinized or considered unlawful.

Sandy Fleischberg: This company will take your last penny.
They are hopelessly delayed in their development of modules.
Leica and Sigma cameras are without any support.
They have no customer service.
Never answer any inquiry.
They sell updates of their software as new versions for full retail.
There is still no update for Version 7 because they plan to cash in again around x-mas
with "version 8"... as they do every year.
It is shameless !

Thank you Photo Ninja, Thank you Oli,

This is not a personal vendetta against Oli,
who is probably only the paid help of this outfit
who now has to answer to all of this.

Certainly more transparency would help.
I use this product and I see it's potential.
I just can't agree to their "French" modus operandi.

They are a privately owned company and a such they are probably not used to answer to shareholders.
But that should not give them the impression that
we are not watchful in regards to what kind of business practice they engage in.

So far I am not impressed !
... moreover as per today they prove again that they don't keep to anything they say - but change things just as they please.

Judge for yourself !

Don't get snared into their game:

... as expected today they continue their yearly scheme by greeting
us all with the following message :

"OFFERS EXTENDED THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2012"

in 2012 they played this game until March !

Is there no consumer organization that will put an end to this
French/Luxembourgian business practice ?

How do they get away with this in Europe ?

Just to prove the point in regards to their business practice:

"OFFERS EXTENDED THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2012"

Last year they played this game until March !

Do they have no shame in France or Luxembourg ???

DXO his is one rip off outfit !

DXO quote:
"Photographers who have purchased a DxO Optics Pro 7 license on or after September 1, 2012 are eligible for a free upgrade to version 8..."

... what about the ones like me who purchased the retail version
at full price before September 1 2012 ????

They gladly take your money - but they will not give you any upgrade deal.

I do not know any other company in the business who has such
French - boutique style conditions !!!

Shame indeed...

What happened to the Leica upgrade promised for October ???
I push the upgrade button on version 7 every day.

spitfire31: Let's hope that for DxO OP 9, our French friends will finally see the light and provide DxO with versatile local adjustments à la CR/Lightroom.

Until then, I won't bother with it.

No matter how sophisticated, automatic or semi-automatic adjustments can never replace the artistic eye of the editing photographer.

/Joachim

You are absolutely right Joachim,

by the time we might have a working software we spent

299 € on version 7
299 € on version 8
299 € on version 9

What a nice business scheme indeed !!!

Yuyutsu: Only thing I did NOT like about DxO 8 is that it runs much much slower than 7.5 on my computer .

You are joking Oli,

This is like doing business >>French boutique - style <<.

The cloths shrink but one can not exchange them.

Can't you sell us something that works fresh out of the box ?

Last year you could not even provide a hard copy on CD
it too you 11 weeks to deliver.

Something you should be aware of :

"This upgrade is free for all owners of DxO Optics Pro 8, as well as for photographers who purchased a DxO Optics Pro 7 license on or after September 1, 2012. "

How can they get away with this I WONDER !!!

All others like me who bought DXO Optics Pro 7 at FULL RETAIL are kicked
in their b****d.

They also try to pressure you into purchasing the program by setting time limitations that are never kept.
Version 7 was available for a reduced price until March 2012 !!!

HIGHLY UNETHICAL if you ask me.

Thank you DXO labs ! Have a nice day !

This is what is so incredibly annoying :

Buyers beware !!!

This is the yearly fundraiser event for DXO labs !

You will buy into an application that you will not receive any updates
for during 2013 - but will have the privilege to purchase as a new version 9 again in December 2013 !

They play this quite annoying game every year exactly at the same time
around x-mas. and extend it until March the following year.

You hereby have been warned by a very disappointed customer.
... if you don't believe it ... join the club :-)

Leica owners do want this !

We have spent 10000 dollars and now have digital cameras with inferior sensors.... especially when you wasted your money on M8s ...
this might really help ... LR4 does not cut it .

Now get moving girls ! Shake a leg !
