I would say the f/2 as the pictures are usually posed. If you need to have faster shutter then you can bump the ISO. It also depends on your pic style

not a fair comparison with 35/f2 IS. the 35 gotta be better in IQ since it's more expensive, one-stop faster and with IS.The advantage with the 40/2.8 is its size and guaranteed IQ.

Even it's technically feasible, they won't make one if it can impact the sales of the other lenses. They will probably make one when there's serious competition. After-all, it's still a business.
