Replied in It is not yet "delayed"
It was slated for a March delivery. In April, we can say it is late.
What is odd is it was announced very early which is odd for Canon but it matches what they have been doing more of lately. ...

Replied in "Last camera I'll ever buy"...what specs?
40->50MP full measured color on a 24mmX36mm sensor.
No AA filter.
ISO usable to ISO 3200
The ability to "stack images" in camera for effective ISO to 6.
4fps
1D X class...

Replied in Kodak 14N/14C. Canon 1D X.
They did not call it "stacking" but extended lower ISO. Basically, it allowed you to shoot at ISO 12.5 if you wanted to. It accomplished this by stacking multiple images.
The Canon 1D X (and I...

Commented on Similar, but not copied, image found to breach copyright news story
I fully understand the issue but fundamentally disagree with the judgement. It is bad law. The infringement and settlement should be on the first image (and it could be a big one) not the second.

Replied in 1 Series does not have a mode dial.
2 different cameras.

Replied in One thing to remember...
Focal length of most lenses will change slightly as focal distance changes. Likewise, distortion changes with both focal length and focus distance.

Replied in It was there and it is sweet.
The banding part was confusing. In this case, the banding was vertical (it was horizontal on a portrait shot) and Canon's banding has always been horizontal. Now it could be that Canon has...

Replied in It was there and it is sweet.
They were were letting you snap away and take pics (not with your CF card). Thing is blindingly fast, AF seemed sure footed and accurate (zoom in looked good). Took an ISO 51200 shot and it...

Replied in Bummer they are little more than thumbnails.
Any full samples?

Replied in A crop is just a crop.
It is still just one camera.
This is actually the first time where Cannon and Nikon have really gone head to head. The pixel counts are almost identical (for all practical purposes) and both...

How many relate DR to IQ. Personally, DR is seldom an issue. Detail is.

Replied in "From Rockwell's page" and you are a pro with 30 years experience?
Really? You do realize half of what Rockwell writes is simply bad or outright wrong?
If you are getting "soft" results, I would first expect technique.

Replied in I am not willing to give up IQ for lower MP.
Since I never have issues with DR or banding (do low ISO and control my DR when I take the shot), I want the added IQ that comes with MP.

Replied in I doubt a single persone will ever buy the 1D X
I mean who wants 18MP, great FF sensor, super fast operation, super great (we hope) AF? I mean it really offers nothing a single photographer would ever want.

Replied in "As 5D being older than 7D, 7D should give a better picture than 5D."
Flawed reasoning.
The first question that comes to mind is why would you think that both cameras would have exactly the same color response. My 1D, 1D Mk II, 5D, 40D and 5D Mk II each have...

Replied in A weak AA filter can be a pain.
The 1D had a weak AA filter and it was great 90% of the time. The other 10% it could be a royal PITA. Same with the Kodak 14N. Same with the N9.
Moire can hit in many things other than...

Replied in I am liking the 17-40...
It is simply a wonderful lens. Light and half the price of the 16-35mm Mk II. I have the 16-35 Mk I and the 17-40mm simply crushes the lens in edge to edge, distortion, flare control, contrast,...

Replied in I liked what they did about 10 years back in a patent.
A CFA where they could control the color of each filter from Red to Green to Blue to clear.
That would be sweet/ You could have a treu B&W, a Bayer (for speed) or a great landscape tripod...
