johncecilian: Yes, I was going to ask the same question, it is not clear by the rules and it seems that some of the entries have no continuity in the five submitted...so it would be good to know if there is supposed to be a link among the photos or just five random photos that a person likes. Kindly let us know. Thanks.

just five random photos that a person likes

One specific user seems to qualify so many pictures as a ‘snap shot’, that I have decided to not to disqualify any more pictures based on this complaint. So I cancelled all former disqualifications. I apologize to everyone for the unnecessary annoyance it may have caused.

In reply to:

Rajeshb: Why this "The use of external optical filters or optical converters is not allowed" ?

then what's the point of interchangeable lens camera challenge? So all the pictures taken with a polariser are automatically disqualified? and if someone doesn't mention any fiter, how the host will verify it?

The idea is to reach the maximum result in the plain combination: sensor and quality optics. Polarizing and color filters are of visual influence in this simple basic relation. The only filer allowed is an UV filter, because it in fact does not add a visual aspect, but takes away a disturbing one. Your right that I should have said so.

In reply to:

EXX: With interchangable lens cameras you mean everything: DSLR, DSLT and the mirrorless ILC ones, or only the mirrorless ILC ones?

Just one remark: although you can set the lens type, I do not think it will be shown to viewers/voters as long as the challenge has not finished (just as the camera type is not shown either). I assume this is done to keep voting as neutral a possible.

Any digital camera with an interchangeable lens mount or interchangeable lens unit is fine. Presence or absence of a (fixed translucent or moving) mirror or a (optical or electronic) viewfinder is not relevant.

As far as your final remark concerns: your assumption is correct.

cosmoxl: The rules call for out of camera jpeg. What if we only have the raw file?

The only way to check if no post-processing took place, is to look in the EXIF data of the picture. There a signature is found of the post-processing software. If you shoot in RAW, your picture will always have this signature and I can not tell the difference. But since many contestants has violate this rule, I would say: just ignore it. I won't DQ no one for this.

lostearstudio: Do the lens matter? I got an adapter for my minolta MD lens alongside with a macro tube extension which I used to snap some good pics of bugs earlier today. (not going to use those pics as it came out as RAW contrary to the contest rule).

Just provide the correct information, and I am glad to accept your entry
