additional Rule: No borders and no text !!!!!!Your Challenge Host
Schnitty: so "•Picture must be taken during the day between sunrise and sunset" does this mean no pictures of the sunset or surise. Or does this mean no night photos
this means no night photos
Michael D Beckwith: With regards to basic processing, is HDR photography allowed?
NO HDR. Sorry
bjake: Have a new camera that I forgot to set date-time which shows photos taken on 12-1-12 as 1-4-10.If one of these is entered will it be rejected?
idnab: To Challenge host:
Is the title misspelled and it should be "... still life"?
you are right
One specific user seems to qualify so many pictures as a ‘snap shot’, that I have decided to not to disqualify any more pictures based on this complaint. So I cancelled all former disqualifications. I apologize to everyone for the unnecessary annoyance it may have caused.
JosyC: I'm a newbie-- what do you mean by "no snapshots?"
Pics an average grandmother would take...;-)
Rmano: Is resizing allowed? Thanks!
Read te rules
Rajeshb: Why this "The use of external optical filters or optical converters is not allowed" ?
then what's the point of interchangeable lens camera challenge? So all the pictures taken with a polariser are automatically disqualified? and if someone doesn't mention any fiter, how the host will verify it?
The idea is to reach the maximum result in the plain combination: sensor and quality optics. Polarizing and color filters are of visual influence in this simple basic relation. The only filer allowed is an UV filter, because it in fact does not add a visual aspect, but takes away a disturbing one. Your right that I should have said so.
EXX: With interchangable lens cameras you mean everything: DSLR, DSLT and the mirrorless ILC ones, or only the mirrorless ILC ones?
Just one remark: although you can set the lens type, I do not think it will be shown to viewers/voters as long as the challenge has not finished (just as the camera type is not shown either). I assume this is done to keep voting as neutral a possible.
Any digital camera with an interchangeable lens mount or interchangeable lens unit is fine. Presence or absence of a (fixed translucent or moving) mirror or a (optical or electronic) viewfinder is not relevant.
As far as your final remark concerns: your assumption is correct.
I decided to close down this challenge, since lack of interest
ak1981: Sony A55 allow???
I am sorry but I have to be strict concerning the camera model. Only Sony SLT-A57.
fotoselect: Is it possible to allow Sony SLT 77 ?
vastoulis: Can I,please, pretty please, submit images taken with Sony SLT A65? If so can I submit pictures taken with a UV filter(I keep one permanantly fixed on the lens)?
olyham: Some entries look like they may be taken with micro 4/3 mount lenses rather than 4/3 as specified in the rules
m4/3 is fine
cosmoxl: The rules call for out of camera jpeg. What if we only have the raw file?
The only way to check if no post-processing took place, is to look in the EXIF data of the picture. There a signature is found of the post-processing software. If you shoot in RAW, your picture will always have this signature and I can not tell the difference. But since many contestants has violate this rule, I would say: just ignore it. I won't DQ no one for this.
lostearstudio: Do the lens matter? I got an adapter for my minolta MD lens alongside with a macro tube extension which I used to snap some good pics of bugs earlier today. (not going to use those pics as it came out as RAW contrary to the contest rule).
Just provide the correct information, and I am glad to accept your entry
Five Piece: Yep, I think this is what they are looking for here...
A the host of this challenge I can tell you that this is totally true.
mirrorrorrim: In your rule "Do not submit simple replications of existing creative artwork, but rather from someone (or something) being creative by nature", I think some entrants are taking "nature" literally rather than as an innate quality. I could be wrong, but there seem to be a lot of "nature" shots.
You're right. But since so many contestants are misinterpret the assignment, I have decided to take no further action. Apparently I am here the one to blame.
JoeAmateur: Does "lucky" include right place, right time?
Yes, why not? Any aspect of luck will do. As long as you yourself were as much surprised with the result as any other viewer. But please play it fair. Do not submit pictures were luck was no element at all. I hope this will help and thanks for asking.Kind regards, your challenge host.
