I find the downright rude and simply ungrateful behavior of some here baffling, especially since the entire site is FREE. So an effort to make the site better (again free of charge) should be applauded, supported and critized constructively instead of being a complete d--k moaning like a little kid about things that do not work and are "a big mistake".

ofcourse as with most (if not all) migrations to another system, a lot of things go wrong, but the DP team is working to fix them. So why don't you give them an encouragement by giving useful critique in a way your mother taught you to do. No one of us can make any claims or demands, since you don't pay a dime (and spare me non-arguments like the few ads here and there)

So instead of all this negativety that seems to be going around since too many month, try to be a bit more courteous It will make the boards a fun place again and the site in general more enjoyable to visit (plus as bonus the DP crew will likely appreciate it).

@David Nall

It's not always that easy. Technology moves on. New devices appear, as do new ways of publishing (electronically) information. In many cases this is an important reason to look at what's needed to make a forum work correctly and in doing so, it may very well be that the long list of needed and/or wanted changes (improvements?) are implemented.
So even if it looks not broken it may very well be that sooner or later large fixes were needed.

A real usefull comment. Bravo Eric. May I add to this that in my (rather long) experience of implementing new IT systems and/or the implementation of what is seen as "large" changes-/improvements to existing systems, the part that needs most attention and effort is NOT the development or technical implementation, but the "treatment" of users expectations and learning curve. As most of you will know, after 2-3 months (of not earlier) litterally no-one who was so critical wants to return to the previous application (by then seen as old-fashioned).

ZAnton: Dear DPreview.
I can not write on the new forum. After typing several words on the message field, some "sripts" are hanging, IE crashes. Even these words can be typed VEEERY slow.
I also can not cut quotation in several pieces to answer it part by part.
IE8, Win7

upd: Also "Del" button doesn't work, only "backspace"

Using both Win7 and Vista in combination with Chrome. No problems at all.

Am not really surprised that IE gives problems. Chrome is far superior and more reliable.

The_Wicker_Man: Not nice ay all. I know some changes take some gettimg used to, but the new layout is much less readable

@Simon: this exactly the prof. attitude I love to read. I have hoovered over the forums for over an hour now (early morning here in Europe) and really LOVE these improvements. Convinced also that this is on-going and we will see (or not see as its under the skin) more refinements as the days will pass.

I really LOVE it. Possibility to switch between blue and yellow is great and very pleasing for my eyes. As always you have to get used to some functions and were to place the cursor to make best use of the "pup-ups" of messages while going through them, but at first view: DPR WELL done, a great improvement and another reason to visit the forums regularly!!
