Very nice sharp photos but I prefer more isolation of subjects. If these are shot wide open then that's a major drawback. Seems very versatile though.

Mine stays ON for all handheld or even with monopod. The only time I turn it off is on the tripod.I've read so many varying opinions but I do what I feel gives me the best results.

I guess I'm very lucky too. After a 1000 shots, only two dust spots seen at 200% crop.
There is a Poll on Nikon Cafe but these are not accurate as thousands of D600 owners never visit a forum.

I own a D600 and I've seen enough samples on the net to say the problem is real but variable.
That said, I have a good one because I have not noticed any spots in my photos. But after 1000 shots...

I use mine exclusively for close up / macro and that means on a tripod, VR off and manual focus. But I have seen many handheld close ups using VR that are amazing.
