The logic on #3 is flawed, in my opinion. The materials that make up lenses are actually rather cheap, for the most part: glass and metal aren't expensive enough to be the primary cost of the...

I've never used a GH3, so it's difficult to say. I have an OMD EM-5, so I can only go on the obvious differences. The biggest difference for me is just that: size. My foray into micro 4/3 from not...

Am I just being naïve, or is a metal lens more likely to have higher durability?

Excellent set of suggestions, which incorporates a lot of the advice from other responses.I'll do some shots with a tripod after I get one, but in general those are going to be a more planned trip....

Lack of correct focus could very well be the case, with as new a photographer as myself. And for the record, I upgraded for decreased noise at higher ISOs, since a lot of my photography has been...

Thanks! This is a RAW photo processed via Lightroom. The first one has had no changes, the second has chromatic aberration correction applied. Any problems with sharpness are with either the...

I had the same problem at first. I think the trick was to turn off the other menus for the mode in which you want to use it.

The reference shots of OMD EM-5 vs. GH2 would suggest it, but the camera doesn't make the photo -- the photographer does. I like your shots quite a lot, by the way.

I applied the default "remove chromatic aberration" in lightroom and there was some improvement. The clarity in the leaves didn't improve markedly, but the response on this thread is giving me a...

I was open to the idea that I didn't know what I was talking about! Certainly I'm still learning what sorts of results to expect from the equipment I have. If this is the expected output, I can't...

I've left IS in default mode, and I've also noticed less of the problem in low light with slower shutter speeds, so you might be onto something here.

It's not my favorite lens, either. I've got the Panasonic 20mm on my wish list. Not the same focal length, but I would use them similarly.
-
Actually, here's another one with the 17mm that is a lot worse, especially if you look at the leaves of the orange tree to the right:
-
Thanks! I'll give it a try.

Thanks for the tip. I did know that the brown leaves should be out of focus in this shot. I was referring to some blur in the yellow leaves, which are in focus but not as sharp as I had expected.

Hi all, new here. I've been lurking for a while, having had an EP-2 and not seriously pushed myself enough to find out how to get better photos.I recently upgraded to an OMD EM-5, though, and I...
