Many posts about low scores.
Again the prove that there is more to a good DSLR then only the sensor.
Nice review. Thanks for sharing.
astralux: For me the news in the post is not the subject but the words "while working towards our reviews". The Nikons as wel as the new Canon has been extensively tested elsewhere and users here have written so much about the models that any test now from DPR will just be too little too late and old news. Come on guys, it only takes 2 to 3 days to do the test if you knuckle down. The D4, D800 and 5D Mk III has been the biggest news on the new body front in the last month or so. All we get from DPR is previews and tests on less important models and fiddling with the web site software. Get on with it!
I am looking forward to the D800 review. Also any progress on the 5D Mark III review ?
Thanks and Ignore.....you know what I mean
The Surgery on the 5D Mark III is hilarious....
Time to open up a Nikon and see if there is tape inside....
Really get a life an take some pictures....Instead of trying to find another FLAW in the 5D mark III which is not going to be an issue ever in real shooting.
Francis Carver: Biggest bug they gotta fix is the rather ridiculous price of this lame-legged so-so camera.
The biggest bug is the complainers. To expensive ????????Don't buy it.....simple isn't ?
Henry M. Hertz: i guess this is really only a issue for NIKON shooter, who usually shoot with the lens cap on, who switched to canon.....
i have tested the 5D MK3 and while i noticed the behavior.... it does not matter if you have a lens on your camera (and of course no lens cap on the lens).
i have not noticed any wrong metering on night shots.
Same here.I am happy I shoot only with the lenscap not attached
tobywhitstable: shizen house'n...Absolute crap from canon here.... The biggest over-hyped flop for 2012 is the EOS 5D MK III
Registered just to tell us this ?You must be a pro I guess.
Yanko Kitanov: "I am Nikon, so keep the lights On" ))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) LMAO
Read again. They are both very goodNeither Nikon nor Canon takes the lead.
Read and enjoy the review and don't make this into another brand war.
ryansholl: Three years ago the thought of HD video from a DSLR was cause for hysterics. "I don't want my brand to sacrifice still image quality for video features"
Where did the uproar go?
Same here.Still images should be the most importance.
Sdaniella: earlier i had pointed out Philip Bloom's review of the 5DMkIII video...he has had an about face turn on his opinion for its video footage, where aliasing is not a problem and the sharpness in fact now is stunning if resorting to a mere 'sharpening filter' in post...
you have to see the footage to see the massive change in video IQhttp://philipbloom.net/2012/03/22/5dmk3/
no bizarre software crack required, like Pany's GH2, nor bizarre tear-down of the body to remove the anti-aliasing filter by one of his colleagues (on EOSHD). nor running totally 'default' and unprocessed as the above review shows.
while most have felt 5DMkIII footage 'too soft' or 'mushy'... that is just default footage... if one looks at optional pp (that most do anyway before publishing), then it is now stunningly peerless amongst any dSLR FF or APS sensored. making even captured stills off of video look crisp.
odd... that so many other review/comparison websites are silent on what Philip Bloom came across...
Beats the crap , not really....Wake up Canon why ?
AbrasiveReducer: Sounds like the D800 is better unless you don't like moire.
ZAnton: Yep, mk3 has tiny-slightly less noise than mk2, but definitely not worth 1800 Euro price difference.I am glad I've bought mk2 in Oct. Although it is sad, that I've chose Canon over Nikon 4 years ago.
But maybe there are some other reasons for buying the 5D Mark III then high ISO performance only.
Sad ??What is it with you guys ?Nikon .... Canon.... they both will do the job for almost 99% of us.
I can't understand why people feel sad with Canon equipment.I really really don't understand.
Those pixel peep images are so close.....Do you really think the images output will change that much by switching to Nikon or switching from Nikon to Canon ????
R o l o: Minor improvements, major price increase. Keep your Mark II for now...
Minor ?That depends doesn't it ?
Maybe some people need to have a good AF system where not only the center is working correctly.
Maybe some people need to have more FPS and less shutterlag
Maybe some people need dual cards
maybe some people need better high iso performance
And maybe let people decide by themselves if they want to keep the 5D mark II or buy the mark III
rusticus: do not understand how people spend so much money for this Updats
You don't have to understand
Some guys drive a BMW while others drive a cheap Suzuki. That simple.
You either buy the 5D Mark III or you don't.
josan: from sample photos, My opinion at this point is :high ISO performance is on the canon's side, but details is on D800 by far.I am a long time Canon user, but I can say this time NIKON really did a good job, for the first time I am tempted to jump ship . I can't say which one better for me, until I try both camera myself then I will make my decision . Looking forward for In Depth Review of both camera as well.I am sure I am not the only one tempted to jump ship for many reasons.unless Canon come up with something similar with D800 or even better .:) Canon .... you can !
My god another jumper.....Do you REALLY REALLY think anyone is interested to know about your jumpig ship !!!
Do you ???
Look at your beautiful images !!!!Made by Canon and don't expect it will be better because the number of DXO benchmarks tells you so
Rubenski: Can't believe this, I've just learned that 5DMark III sensor is way behind, even worse in DR than the older Nikon sensors! And Sony is kicking Canon's ass too! And all thanks to posts about all kinds of techie stuff (read: I've got nothing else to do than pixel peeping and concluding from that I indeed prefer the camera I already preferred in the first place). I'll tell you one thing: the pro's warn you: don't read the posts on THE BIG WEBSITES, there're filled with the usual BS!! (coming from a fan of photography, not a fan of a brand, couldn't care less).
How I wish we could respect eachother.Canon is superbNikon is superb
Why ALWAYS ALWAYS this Nikon vs Canon HATE !!!!!!
D200_4me: Somehow I think the pros who make a descent living from their photography will not find the D4's ISO capabilities a hindrance to their ability to deliver pro results. A lot of people on here just need to go out and start making photos instead of fretting over a camera's specs night and day. I promise you'll be a lot less stressed if you stop worrying about whether or not you have a better camera or lens than everyone else.
ZAnton: It is very funny to read how Canon funboys are trying to prove, that Canon is not loosing the game, by comparing D4 with D3s. The only thing they omit, that both D4, D3s humiliatingly destroy all Canon's which are present on the test.
Anyway even if D4 is worse than D3s, the difference is so tiny, that it does not have any practical significance.
Canon and Nikon deliver both superb DSLR'sBoth Canon and Nikon will do PERFECT for 99,9 % for us...
Read the topic of Rozsas Adam...Indeed pros are laughing on all these topics...It seems ALL is about Canon vs Nikon...
It's Fanboys not Funboys.....
PhotoKhan: Ok..I am a bit lost here...
On the samples...What's with the intense smearing on the background blacks, visible in a chunk above the owl shaped think (bag?) and all over the far left side? (...all ISOs !)
...Am I the only one seeing it !?!?!
Answered already somewhere here, but I am not sure.
munro harrap: Very useful. I was shocked to see how well the 1D Mk1v that has the same resolution on a smaller sensor does. But not happy at all with DP's exclusion of the 1Ds MkIII, and the 1Ds MkII.
To be able to compare files from a 1Ds MkII with those from its equivalent Nikon D4 (same sensor size and resolution) would allow everyone to judge progress since 2004.
And to exclude the 1Ds MkIII is wrong-its Canon's current top pro camera
Yep the mark IV looks very good for a 1.3 crop sensor
Does the 5DmkIII preproduction unit DPR is in possession of have the ability to turn OFF the high ISO noise reduction data damage mechanism, uh, I mean, feature?
If so, can you turn it off for JPEG and/or RAW?
Please DPREVIEW post some RAW files......
