Blimey! Sir George Carlin, if he was still with us :-(, would have to modify his "Seven Dirty Words" to include: the "N" word, the three letter "F" word, Dick Cheney, Sara Palin and Adobe!

I don't know if George was ever "knighted", but he should have been.

Henrik Herranen: They lost me at the line where they said:
"Canon EF 24mm f/2.8 IS USM (equivalent to a 40mm f/2.8)"
(followed by many other lines of similar, ahem, data).

They really should know better. 40/2.8 on FF is _NOT_ the equivalent of 24 f/2.8 on crop. If it was, both systems would have the same DoF and blurring capabilities, but they don't.

Different images = no equivalence.

"And good writers should always aim to write using concepts their audience can realistically be expected to understand."

Duh, does that mean dumbed down? ;-)

No one reads the stories, that go straight to the comment section and whine and cry about features, lack of features, quality control (apparently) and prices. It's funner!

xiod_crlx: I love prices here in UK!!!!! THE ARE SO NICE!!!

$800 USA -> £800

it is not THAT sad with current pound->dollar rate of ~1:1.6 like it used to be - few years ago the rate was 1:2.1 effectively doubling the price (!)

but still, it is huge overpayment...

you can opt for grey market-no-manufacturer warranty to chase the lower price, but for honest, normal users it is a robbery IMHO

The United States has the best medical "care", and technology in the world. Try again.

rb59020: No thanks, Samsung blew it! Should have been at least APSC, full frame would have been better! The 10X zoom is ok, but should have been a constant f1.4. I hate it when the aperture changes when I zoom! And what's with the crappy 4fps? The D4 does 10fps! What was Samsung thinking?

Scary isn't it? There is a few posters north of here that have apparently never heard of it. Dr. House is my hero! ;-)

sar-casm n. A form of wit that is marked by the use of sarcastic language and is intended to make its victim the butt of contempt or ridicule.

$900.00!?! For that price it should be an f1.0! I could git the Sony lens and 9 K-1000 bodies on ebay! Or three new tires for my pickup truck!

On article Just posted: Nikon D5200 in-depth review (233 comments in total)
In reply to:

marike6: The review is extremely misleading regarding the D5200's video quality. Video is dramatically improved over the D5100, yet surprisingly the D5200 and D5100 scores for video are identical. And the T3i / 600D scores significantly higher for video performance in spite of significant moire/aliasing, poor almost unusable AF and no HDMI-out. This is unfortunate.

Here is what EOSHD said about the D5200:

"The Nikon D5200 is the best mid-range Nikon yet for video. What is more of a surprise is the relish in which it takes on the much more expensive 5D Mark III, Panasonic GH3 and Nikon’s own flagship the D800 and D4."

He goes on to say "The D5200 is particularly welcome for budget shooters, since Canon have stagnated with their Rebel line. Now it is pay back time because the best selling DSLRs for video – the 7D, 60D and 650D – are firmly out-performed by the Nikon D5200. "

Don't you get it? If your not Dino De Laurentiis or Marty Fricken Scorsese, you have no business reviewing, having or giving your opinion about the quality of video you are seeing with your own two eyes! Too funny!

Justin Francis: Why in the world would anyone get the D7100? Maybe 2% might need the extra features in the D7100.

I have big hands, I came from a D200 to the 5200, I bought a battery grip for $25 on a well known auction site, plus I added a Camdapter ProStrap, works great.

I'm still annoyed at the price of an Aston Martin Vantage, but there's no point complaining about it

Way too slow, should have been f2.0 at the most! And I'm going to hold my breath till they lower the price to $1205.50!

Will it fit my LX3?

Link | Posted on May 14, 2013 at 12:47 UTC

Maybe if it was f0.95 and it cost $495.00 Duhhhh....

On article Nikon issues firmware updates for D4 and D800/D800E (90 comments in total)

I guess there are few around here who have built computers as a hobby or as a trade in their lives, or even had a smart phone? Most electronic devices require firmware upgrades in their lifetimes. I've delt with motherboards that needed half a dozen or more firmware upgrades over the span of a couple of years.

Why would electronic devices like motherboards, videocards, cellphones and cameras have flashable EEPROMS, NAND or NOR memory chips in their design if you were never expected to have to update them?

Get over it, quit whining and flash your damn camera.
