On Pentax announces K-01 K-mount APS-C mirrorless camera news story (875 comments in total)
In reply to:

Karroly: K-mount and sensor-shift are big pros for "universal lens use".
But lack of electronic viewfinder or socket for an additionnal one is a big con.
Please, Pentax, design something else more ergonomic.
Shooting arm stretched with such a camera and one of the big zooms shown in the picture above is just nonsense to me. But I am aware that some people need heavy, unstable gear to muscle their arms...
My first mirrorless camera is a Samsung NX11 because it is yet the only one, as far as I know, with APS-C sensor and built-in viewfinder. And the more I use it the more I love it.
And more: compared by myself to 2 Canon, 3 Pentax standard 18-55mm lenses on various Canon and Pentax bodies, the Samsung lens produces the sharpest shots @ 18mm F:3.5 with no chromatic aberration and near zero purple fringing in backlit situation ( and lens distortion correction setting to OFF in the camera menu...)

On Pentax announces K-01 K-mount APS-C mirrorless camera news story (875 comments in total)
In reply to:

Biggreydog: Is that a K5 in the comparison picture? If so, the K01 is smaller by just the size of the pentaprism and the handgrip, both of which I'd rather have.

I don't see the advantage, and I'm not interested.

Plus, while I don't generally buy cameras based on their appearance, this one is so toy-like I'd be embarrassed to be seen with it. (Matter of taste, of course.)

master381: isn't the D4 the 5th FX-format DSLR Nikon has released, not the 6th? Unless DPR has something else in house =D

(D3, D700, D3x, D3s, D4 -- am I missing one?)

And me too.

LOL.
I hoped they will do water resistand flash, but instead they tweak SB-900 a little. This can be done by firmware update...

In reply to:

CAClark: This would make a nice wide angle on MFT with an adapter I reckon, not least on account of the really keen pricing point.

There is Samyang 7.5mm lens for MFT

On Report: Sigma at PPE 2011 article (13 comments in total)

Foveon is not cool. Canon and Nikon wont do this.
Foveon looses in terms of color accuracy, the color itself on high iso, noise at high iso, speed of reading data, and bits per pixel. It only wins at slight resolution increase - which is not sufficient as resolution is already high and we are looking at whole picture, not pixel-peep.

In reply to:

Jens_G: Please explain to me how a 13.2mm x 8.8mm sensor is a 1" sensor? The diagonal definitely isn't close to an inch.

35mm is called because of perforated film, which has 35mm height. It is not related to frame width.
This sensor is 1" because these are vidicon inches, not imperial inches

Will it have stereographic projection (like Samyang 8/3.5) or standart one?

I should read comments before posting...
