An 11x mega zoom like the 18-200 is a great do it all in one lens solution. It served me well with my D90. I got a lot of really nice shots.
But mega zooms are a compromise and not perfectly sharp...

For me the shadow is something that makes that scene unusual and somehow interesting. A wide angle landscape shot needs something in the foreground and this is a bit of a twist on that old adage
