  • Your comments are accurate about the image, but it is not always what one says its the way that one says it that really matters. The best criterion to use when posting something like that might be...
  • Commented on The Jesus Christ-Statues. challenge

For information - a crucifix is a cross showing Christ being crucified on it. Traditional ones show Him with the nails through his feet and hands, while more modern ones are often less obviously...

  • Commented on Mid-flight challenge

I would also add that this is nothing to do with where I live. It is about asking a question as to why photographers who have taken some brilliant pictures then feel that they have to change items...

  • Commented on Mid-flight challenge

Its actually because, if you examine the pictures, you will see for yourself that the backgrounds have been replaced!

  • Commented on Mid-flight challenge

Its actually because, if you examine the pictures, you will see for yourself that the backgrounds have been replaced! Some are black - are your skies like that?

  • Commented on Mid-flight challenge

Some truly great pictures - but I am dismayed at the number of entrants who seem to feel compelled to change the background of their image to something quite unnatural. So many pure blues and even...

  • Interesting comments, but I don't see any problem. I would love to have entered this challenge, but I don't have any pictures that meet the rules set by the host. The answer is simple, if you...

  • Commented on The Jesus Christ-Statues. challenge

Are you accepting a crucifix as being a statue of Jesus? This is the most frequent depiction in statue form, so you are likely to attract many such entries.

  • Don't use ACDSee Pro, but is it an installation file? This is a file that, when you execute it, downloads and installs the program to your computer. It is a common practice these days for this to...
  • At the moment my wife and I both participate in challenges, which we enjoy very much - hope you will find it equally rewarding. As a result of this we are also thinking of offering to host...

  • If you click on the Challenges tab on the menu bar directly under the DPReview¬† and GearShop logos you should get the Challenges main page, showing announced, open for submission and open for...
  • I have seen independent tests, not carried out by computer magazines who might be controlled in their results by vested interests, that suggest some of the free ones are just as effective as those...
  • Commented on Altar at the Mosque challenge

Mnay thanks to vqueen for changing the title of the challenge to use the correct Muslim term.

  • Commented on Altar at the Mosque challenge

Many thanks to vqueen for changing the title of the challenge to use the correct Muslim term.

  • Have to agree that a watermark frequently affects my voting - usually adversely, unless it is specifically required by the challenge. I find advertising or naming watermarks unnecessary, as they...
  • Looks useful - will test it with my 5Dlll and 7D. Thanks.
  • Commented on Altar at the Mosque challenge

Technically you only find an altar in a church, and only in certain denominations (some use communion tables). The niche in the wall of a mosque, indicating the direction of Makkah, is known as the...

  • Submitted a challenge entry Out of Order
This made me stop and think when I took the picture. A short distance on the Danube Canal, all within the ambit of my lens (and its not even wide angel). How much rubbish is being produced here? How many waste bins? How much can a society afford to be so profligate with its limited resources? Truly it is "Out of Order!" - in more ways than one.
