Englishman in France: I think George Lucas has been teaching Olympus how to count. What are Olympus going to call their 5th model in the series ?
E-M1 Mark V
This is actually one of the few Sony cameras I'm tempted to buy.. It's so cheap!! But.. well I know I won't really buy.
So basically not worth upgrading for most current owners. But new buyers will benefit either from the new features or price drop if willing to have last generation.

Lan: Can you use the in-body IS and in-lens IS at the same time to improve stabilization further? I'm expecting not, but I live in hope ;)
Olympus says, choose one or the other and I think it will be the same for Panasonic machine.http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_support_faqs.asp?id=1628#14
technotic: Is there a good reason to buy an EP-5 now this camera exists apart from its (probably) better IBIS? The GX-7 equals or beats it in every(?) way including price - even without the optional viewfinder on the EP-5.
Panasonic is comparing gx7’s IBIS with their Mega OIS (not newer Power OIS) so Olympus’ 5-axis IBIS might be better. And it’s missing an accessory port (for external mic etc.) - if that’s important to you.
Right now, gx7 is number one seller in Amazon ranking in CSC while e-p5 is nowhere near top.http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/electronics/3109924011/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_e_1_4_last
Good job, Panasonic! It's the best cam since GF1. Just hope the sensor performs better as promised.
retro76: Honestly, I think this is a brilliant camera, but why I am underwhelmed with Fuji color ? Everyone states how amazing Fuji color is, but honestly I think it looks a bit flat, maybe a tad off hue.
Imho, usually Fuji color is not that vibrant just as if there’s very slight silver tint. For this, it gives better-than-real skin tone and many times, tender color overall. Still it makes better color than most of others do (greenish tint, unbalanced color etc.)
ZAnton: Same camera & specs with 1/1.7" sensor please.
@ moscHow about X-S1 albeit >$500.http://www.dpreview.com/news/2011/11/24/fujifilmxs1
You can find some sample photos here..http://www.optyczne.pl/6013-nowo%C5%9B%C4%87-Panasonic_Lumix_DMC-FZ70_-_przyk%C5%82adowe_zdj%C4%99cia.html
mosc: I still want to know how much image circle the Q lenses cover! I mean, the previous one was a 1/2.33" sensor, this one is a 1/1.7" sensor. Is the next one going to be a 2/3" sensor that uses the same lenses? How much area does this system actually cover?
Here, some say the new focal lengths suggest that 1/1.7 is their original plan but no one seems to know for sure.http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-q/227800-q-lens-equivalents-q-q10-vs-q7.html
This might answer your question..http://ricehigh.blogspot.com/2011/06/how-large-sensor-that-pentax-could-put.html
Buy Now link needs to be corrected for Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX1. Thank you for the article.
ecm: I'm reasonably happy with my Q with 02 and 06; it's better than any pocket camera I've ever had. Nice to know that there's a true upgrade path, not that I feel the need to actually fork over the money right now... I kind of wonder how far this can go - a 2/3 sensor like the one in the old Olympus C8080 could be awesome with today's technology.....
I found this..http://ricehigh.blogspot.com/2011/06/how-large-sensor-that-pentax-could-put.html
Steen Bay: "Viewfinder type - None". Doesn't the HX300 have an EVF?
It seems it has an EVF..http://www.techradar.com/reviews/cameras-and-camcorders/cameras/compact-cameras/sony-hx300v-1131365/review/
g7star: I like Olympus' point of view on compacts (and the sensor sizes) better than Canon's.
You mean "xz-3"? Sounds good to me.. Hopefully they don't make it any bigger than xz-2 though.
I like Olympus' point of view on compacts (and the sensor sizes) better than Canon's.
Everyone's basically saying Olympus needs Sony sensor(or tight body), and Sony needs Olympus lens. Hopefully they come out with one sometime soon.
The list is not a scientific fact and it can't certainly make everyone happy. Why some people have to be so rude. I really appreciate their hard works. And no, I don't work for Amazon.
Thank you for the review. Now, will you have SX50 review sometime soon? I see SX50 in the studio comparison list.
