itsastickup: No Bokeh. No Buy.

This should always have been a 50mm equiv camera if it were to have a fixed lens.

Silly Fuji.

35mm is nice but option for 40-50mm would be great for candid

Peiasdf: That's a big hump.

I actually think D800 is a better deal than E-M5 all things considered. Sure it is expensive but it is so much more capable.

They are different target market. If you don't mind the size then DSLR is a better deal but for people that doesn't require the best performance then smaller and lighter is a plus.

Jun2: Is there a cheaper version of this camera?

I think they will make a cheaper version, maybe without OVF.

robbo d: Pentax is smarter than you think and most detractors in this forum are ignorant. There is a market for this, the same as there is a market for the Q, the WG-1.................marketing to different groups of people who will influence others and later purchase other gear, plus enforce the k-mount legend.
Is the wg-1 the best rugged camera? Absolute photo quality says no, form, function, ruggedness and popularity with the outdoors crew says yes!!
Does the Q have the best IQ for mirrorless, No? Does it genuinely fit in a pocket and look cool, takes acceptablephotos for most? Yes!!
Will the K-01 fit into a pocket? No, nor does a Nex or Oly, does it look different and not suit traditionalists? Absolutely, but is it different and take damn good stills ? Most likely Yes !!!

Game on.......wait for what the rest of the year brings, and the next and the next......Pentax is coming back in a cunning way, where the big two can't see the forrest for the trees.

still not sell well like m43 and NEX or even N1 isn't it?

Alizarine: I finally got it why the K-01 was made like that: it wasn't intended for SLR users. It's not a replacement for the K-r and nowhere near the K-5. It's for P&S people who want to step up to something bigger and better.

Hell, this is going to be one helluva party! Ricoh-Pentax nailed it!

topstuff: There are a lot of apparently stupid people here. I don't mean to insult, but really, some of the comments are ignorant. If people do not know what they are talking about, its best to say nothing...

The camera is thicker than a NEX ( for example ) for a reason. The Pentax is the ONLY mirrorless that will take all lenses without an adaptor.

Now consider what a NEX looks like with the Adaptor for Alpha lenses attached, or indeed any adaptor needed to extend the miserably short lens range NEX offer. The adaptor needed is HUGE , UGLY and ruins the handling.

The Pentax K 01 needs NO adaptor to take ALL lenses.

This point seems to be entirely missed by the sheep here..

Rant over.

Well, Sony got SLT already
