Greg Gebhardt: I was going to get this to replace my G1X Mk2 but after seeing how big the lens is, no deal! Canon has ruined it top of the line compact by putting this honker on such a great camera.
I know some of the "gear heads" will love the 600mm and likely shoot most their images at this focal length "cause they can"! LOL!
I will stick to my G1X Mk2 as I would VERY seldom use 600mm!!!
Eyeing this as a compact birding camera where the Panasonic and Sony falls short.
Possibly useful for birders who can opt to use a cheaper and lighter 300/4 lens instead of a 600/4 on an APS-C body.
Nko Gonzalvis: This is an AMAZING small camera, like the OMD E-M5 but other range !!!
Nothing is amazing about this camera.. But I shall upgrade my E-P3 to the E-PL5 just to get the Sony sensor which is a vast improvement to the old Panasonic one. Just look at the image quality at ISO10000!! It looks much better than the E-P3 at ISO1000!!
jonikon: The P7700 is too much camera for such a tiny sensor. Tiny sensors are just too limited for DOF control, high ISO image quality and dynamic range. With all the better alternatives of larger sensor compact cameras available today, it is hard to believe anybody would still be interested in these sensor size crippled cameras anymore. The Sony RX-100 is a much more attractive camera to photography enthusiasts. Time for Nikon to wake up and make a compact camera with a 1 inch sensor and leave the tiny sensors to the cell phones..-Jon
They have 3 cameras with 1" sensors. Too bad they are not compact enough. Sony really got it right with the RX100!
