  • Sure you can beat that with a larger-sensor camera, but the bigger the sensor, the bigger the task it becomes. You probably won't be casually walking around doing handheld shots with a 16-800mm ...
  • 95% of what I'm seeing in that gallery that the OP linked to is due to the skills of the photographer, not the gear! This person has some inkling about lighting and post-processing (SX50 is one of ...
  • Yup, this one's working good for me: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/836417-REG/ Hint: This particular version is selling for much less than the other versions, yet the only differences are ...

  • I love the looks of the T: It looks like a Leica, yet fully modern. But Apple has spoiled me with their finely-finished aluminum-and-glass creations which are more modestly priced! Ultimately, it's ...
  • I briefly owned one but took it back to the store within hours. Lens itself was fine: A nice (not state of the art, but nice) performer with a pleasingly small lens shade that can be left in place ...
  • Replied in Leica M-a
Where A = "Adventure"! Fully waterproofed when used with appropriate lenses. Familiar Leica M profile (round corners) but thinner, lower and lighter, like high-end bicycle component. Size of M3 or ...
  • To me, it wouldn't make much sense to sell amateur-grade video to a pro audience.
  • 4K resolution ought to look good on the cinema screen, and getting 12 megapixel stills at the same time would be a nice bonus. I don't dream of making my own movie, but I've known guys who did, ...
  • If they're introducing it at NAB, it's aimed more at the professional market. I'd expect it's competition to be the Canon C100 (Super 35 format) @$5K, and the Panasonic GH4 (M43 format) @ $3300, ...
  • Replied in Change happens
To Archiver: Your $2300 was gone forever (less residual value of your gear) the moment you handed over your credit card. So enjoy what you've got for as long as it lasts, rather than fretting about ...
  • Replied in It's brilliant
Ricoh hasn't changed the basic GR formula (28mm prime, compact body) since it's original film incarnation, and maybe as a result, the current model is very polished. It's the rare sort of camera ...
  • Back when the Leica M8 digital rangefinder camera arrived, it was criticized for it's lossy DNG output. Leica Camera went on record in the pages of Leica Fotographe International, as saying that ...
  • Replied in Not at all
I think most of these ultra-small zooms are going to be compromises, but that doesn't mean you can't take great pictures with them.
  • Be thankful for what you've got? Not every wonderful product translates into an equally-wonderful family of products.
  • I think it was Roger Cicala / Lensrentals.com who revealed typical camera "weather-resistant" treatments as often little more than strategically placed bits of tape. The A7 is certainly not water proof
  • Replied in You forgot Leica
First to market with a FF mirrorless! And if Sony NEX hadn't lured me away, I might still be shooting with my M9 or a new M. Fujifilm would be the obvious fallback with it's rangefinder style and ...
  • ...On launch day no less! Sony is being unusually aggressive in pushing the A7/R, maybe because they see this as a new product category they can own. It *is* an insane value, and the kit zoom isn't ...
  • Now that A7/R has arrived with lowest-ever pricing for FF cameras, is there even a market for an $1100 APS-C E-mount camera body anymore? The NEX7 was one of those products that was 98% perfect ...
  • Replied in Yes
Sure it's a compromise: It has loads of coma and barrel distortion, but so what? It's still good enough to take dazzling pictures, and best of all, it's super-handy.
