I have a creeping fear that the D610 will not solve the problem. If that indeed turns out to be the case, Nikon is at risk of being in real trouble in the marketplace.

Assuming that Olympus is Panasonic's primary competition in MFT, does one have a significantly better EVF than the other?

NHT, your post caught my eye. I have had the sense that the A65 is an underrated camera, with very strong capabilities. Any general (or specific) thoughts on the relative merits of your A65...

We don't need to worry too much about processing speeds and storage capacity. Moore's Law has held true to date, and is widely predicted to hold true for the foreseeable future, ensuring continued...

It's true that Ansel Adams did not have color digital photography in mind when he devised the zone system. Translating the concept to color does have some utility nonetheless--more of an analogy.

The really interesting thing to learn on the D610 will be whether or not they actually fix the sensor debris issue. I am in line with several other posters who express interest in the new camera,...

It seemed a bit strange that in the DXO test article not a single Nikkor lens was included in the extensive list of comparison lenses.

In all honesty, I had been seriously considering the 70D over the D7100, largely because I believe that the higher frame rate and larger buffer are significant advantages in several genres,...

Here's what is lacking in the D7100 compared to the 70D: 7 fps burst speed with 65 jpeg/16 raw depth. Action photographers have essentially been abandoned with the D7100. Nikon has shown no hint of...

After having just spent an interesting half hour reading every post on this thread, it is my observation that the essence of the discussion is more philosophical than technical, and more or less...

Is there a way to tell whether or not a new D600 has the shutter "fix" when purchasing?
-
To tell the truth, I would have popped for a D7100 in a heartbeat if the frame rate were a bit faster and the buffer were larger, and all this talk would be academic for me.
-
Depends on the resolution.

$300 difference may be a little stiff, but on paper the GZ7 should be a better camera, and Panasonic certainly has better lenses.

I think I may have finally found my travel camera!

It seems to me that Nikon have come with at least a semblance of a fix, by changing the shutter. My question is, how can one be sure that one is getting a "post-fix" rather than a "pre-fix" example?

The 5D system is pretty widely used by professional videographers, however, with excellent results.

I think I might be better off with an RX100 too, if only it had a viewfinder...

Punkster, your most recent post describes the D5200 "target audience" to a T in my mind.

As an old enthusiast with recently revived interest in photography, and looking for the ideal multi-purpose enthusiast or prosumer camera, my observation is that the higher frame rate and much...
