About me:

I have been away from photography for over 20 years and just bought two cheap cameras of an auction site, an Olympus FE210 (good for fun point and shoots) and an Olympus C2100"Uzi" (I want to experiment a bit) I have since handed the FE210 to a friend and my trusty Uzi to my daughter. I replaced both with an SP570UZ. Now my primary camera is an E500 with twin kit and 70-300mm Zuiko ED..

  • Not happening on my page.  Try deleting cookies and resign in. And a merry festive thingy to you too.  Hope the temps are under 40 this coming week. Thane
  • By the by, that's a very nice image you put up.  My nearest harbour is 2 hours away :(
  • Thanks Rick, very useful.  With all my night shoots I use Manual and trust the camera chooses the right ISO, the rest I do in camera.  Yes did three brackets per shot with differing exposures. ...
  • Note to oneself.  Don't do nightshoots, in fact don't do any shoots.
  • Thanks Andrew.  The first looks "soft" perhaps because of the marble colour and the lighting of the structure.  On my monitor it appears to be in sharp focus.  The second is my personal favourite ...
  • Thanks Not sure if it does, haven't delved too deeply into that side of things. I have issues with my eyesight and what I see live is harder to see on a small Liveview screen on the camera.  I tend ...

Need your guys and gals best input here, with regards to improving the three images for the challenge that closes in a few days.  Cheers. Thane

Had the good fortune to retry Night Shooting with the E620 last night (for the challenge).  My last attempts some time ago were dismal fails (Using A,P, and S and ISO set at 200)  So last night I ...

  • I spent $200+ dollars on a calibrated monitor.  There was very little improvement in picture image quality.  I changed browsers (Firefox to Google Chrome) some improvement.  When I bought my new ...
  • Man give Flickr the flick if you want to display images in another website editor.  Virtually impossible without heavy compression.
  • Just testing this, haven't done it for some time. In Flickr bring up your image as a single image viewed on screen, right click on the image and choose Copy Link Address. Go to Insert/Edit Link in ...

  • Funny how old lens get used. I use the 40-150 Kit from the E500 on my E620 from time to time instead of the E620's kit 40-150 with great results, and the E620's 14-42 on the E500 equally with great ...
  • .... anxious, they have to wait 7 months for night time. Seriously this will be a very tough challenge.  I have done one night shoot with both the E500 and E620 and a massive fail for both and I ...
  • Very surprised to hear Austin's made it into the US!!  Sound's like you have a better story than mine :) Thanks for looking and comments. Thane
  • Up until the 70's and 80's we had a dearth of Austin 7's on the road but with the changes to car warrants of fitness the rusty babies disappeared.  This is by far an away the biggest Austin I have ...

Not often you walk the streets and find something with some detailed history but today I managed to do just that.  This car you are about to see is a 1931 Austen Six Limousine and was brought into ...
