Hmm. Many people are quite pleased with the OVF on the X20, and I think virtually everyone would agree the X20 OVF is much better than any other compact camera. Usually, "distorted and blurry" is...

I agree that DR100 on the X20 is better than I expected, and is really quite good. I haven't seen any need to go to DR200 or beyond.
-
I agree. This really doesn't seem optimal. I've been unhappy with some flash photos I've taken with the X20 because of noise and I see the ISO was set high. Do other similar cameras have this...

I find the DR for the X20 at base DR100 to be surprisingly good. So, I do leave it at 100.

As long as you realize they would have to either make the lens much much bigger, do away with the 4x zoom, or make the lens much slower than F/2.0. It's just physics. I'd rather keep the good...

It would be nice to hear from someone who has successfully upgraded the firmware and can tell us that it fixes this minor issue. Thanks in advance.
-
Had to look a little, but the purpose of the upgrade is mentioned here:
http://www.fujifilm.com/support/digital_cameras/software/firmware/x/x20/index.html
So yes, this is pretty minor.
-
Very cool! That's what I call thinking outside the box. Would be amazing if they could do this, although I'm not sure the resolution of those "pixels" would suffice in practice.
-
Yes, that's the latest.
I'd be very disappointed and very surprised if that were the case.
-
In M mode you can go faster than 1/1000 s at max aperture, so I believe it is firmware, not hardware in this case.
-
I think it's time to organize some firmware requests. Hopefully Fujifilm will consider these. Please take a look and see what else you would like to add to the list.
Improved JPEG output with...

Thanks for the very good review. The only part I don't follow is the comment about being able to keep the NR set high without drawbacks. I've set mine to NR -2 and I think the JPEG output is...

I like it, but the EXIF info say it wasn't shot with the X20.
-
Fantastic. Great photo and subject.

Black! I've always preferred black cameras. The X20 looks great in black. Also, easier to go stealthy by covering the "X20" on the front with some black tape :)
-
Turn NR to -2 (its minimum). You can also lower the sharpness. Finally, I've played around with the shadow and highlights tone levels. They certainly change things pretty dramatically...
-
I've heard a few others have experienced this but my X20 has not froze (frozen?) so far.
-
Thanks for the tips. I didn't consider the marker fading but agree that would look lousy. Off to get some gaffer tape!
-
...to "black out" the X20 on the front of the camerea with a Sharpie (black permanent marker). Anyone done this yet?
-
Looks very nice. What actually does the camera change when you set EV to -2? Just faster shutter or does it sometimes tighten the aperture as well? For this shot, I'm guessing it was just the...
