Replied in Having more resolution is NEVER worse
That means your first option: when diffraction limited, 24Mpx will not mean any advantage over a lower resolution. But having a 24Mpx camera will NEVER be a disadvantage in terms of resolution over...

Replied in Nokton 0.95 in broad daylight
f/16 reduces sharpness due to diffraction, I wouldn't go above f/8 on a M4/3 camera. A ND filter can help in these situations to achieve long exposure times.

Replied in Answer to both of you
The nature of clipped highlights and deep shadows is very different in a digital sensor. You make a big mistake by comparing both.
Shadows never clip to black because there is always noise in...

Replied in DPP doesn't have a genuine Exposure control?
The only thing that prevents us from having detail in the shadows is noise. If you increase exposure and get no detail, it will be because of noise. But that has no relation to the way exposure...

Replied in DPP doesn't have a genuine Exposure control?
Because it couldn't be otherwise. A pure black remains pure black, no matter how you adjust exposure on it. Exposure correction is a linear transformation. This includes, among other properties,...

Replied in Finally got it: the Bright control in the RAW tab IS an Exposure control
The Bright control in the RAW tab IS an Exposure control. It is concluded from calculating the input/output curves setting the Linear mode. This seems the only mode in DPP that guarantees that no...

Replied in DPP doesn't have a genuine Exposure control?
I've been told, what I called Exposure, is the Brightness slider in the RAW tab, which is divided in EV values.
Any RAW developer should have some tool to adjust exposure in the RAW levels...

Created thread DPP doesn't have a genuine Exposure control?
First I must say I am not a DPP user, never installed it. But in other forum someone provided images processed with DPP, the original and the resulting from adjusting 'Bright' and 'Exposure', and I...

Replied in Konica Hexanon for m4/3
I have a Hexanon 40mm f/1.8, and although its performance is not so good as my S-M-C Takumar 50mm f/1.4, it's a very cheap, small and nice...

Replied in Articles must be read carefully
I don't say that *'it is worse to expose correctly raising ISO'*, what I say is that *'it is not worth to raise ISO to get proper exposure'* with this sensor, because the possibility of loosing...

Replied in Some people don't understand MFT is a SYSTEM

Replied in How 'Focus Peaking' works
Great, you were a visionary. It's too bad camera makers don't look at forums.

Replied in RAW developers are obscure under the hood
So ACR and Photoshop are using a non-standard gamma curve for the Adobe RGB and ProPhoto RGB colour profiles you mean? as far as I know the gamma curve defined for these profiles should be a pure...

Replied in Lack of bits is never a problem in a RAW file
John I never saw a posterized RAW file, do you know somewhere to download one where this effect is visible?

Replied in Lack of bits is never a problem in a RAW file
Lack of levels in the RAW file because of a limited number of bits encoding, is never a problem in a RAW file since *noise will always prevents posterization*, no matter how much you underexpose,...

Replied in RAW developers are obscure under the hood
Exposure adjustment should be a simple operation: just multiply all RAW levels by a constant factor. I don't understand why RAW developers insist on doing /strange/ things under the hood, making...
