  • Replied in It depends
What a piece of advice! Are you telling us that Sigma did the right thing not to include a VF knowing user have LCD loupe for a solution? Wouldn't a simply OVF a better and more cost effective ...
  • Replied in VF
Yes. But unfortunately, DSLR is big and heavy, but worst of all, erratic in AF accuracy. I can shoot with LCD, too. It's just not as enjoyable.
  • Replied in VF
Interesting. Then I guess you don’t like DSLR either. Technically, EVF/OVF gives you a bigger and clearer view, in any lighting condition but especially in bright sunlight, that allows you to ...
  • Replied in It depends
Kendall, first of all, I was only talking about “OVF”. In rushing to Sigma’s defence, you did not even get my “accusation” right. Secondly, you are playing word games. U$500 will get you not only a ...
  • Replied in VF
Good to see that a serious reviewer takes lack of VF as serious as a deal breaker. Hope Sigma gets serious about it. But no add-on VF please for the sake of cutting cost. It makes the camera so ...
  • I guess you are right. But Sigma did not mention AFE this time as they did with SD15, not that they have to. Seems that when AFE is used, it could cost a little in high light headroom. Who could ...
  • Thank you for the test. Surprising that the sensor has such a nonlinear noise response, especially the G channel. Anyone has any theory for that? If your measurements are all reliable, then ISO250 ...
  • since Sigma is not abandoning cameras altogether. If SD’s track record is of some guidance, DSLR does not bode well for Foveon. And prospects are bleak for DSLR in general according to latest stats ...
  • If only Sigma go ILC.
  • Replied in Go ILC
Lens : DSLR is dwindling. Sigma needs to be mindful of that and look elsewhere Sensor : Quattro and its variations seem to be a promising direction to pursue further. Camera: Beyond the announced ...
  • Of course, I’ve said higher ppi is good, even if it’s only for the very rare occasions. I just wanted to put things into perspective that with Quattro you’ll hardly need to up res, since you can ...
  • You don’t need 300 ppi for 90” prints, but 21 ppi instead, according to the table in this link: http://www.photokaboom.com/photography/learn/printing/resolution/1_printing_ppi_flow_chart.htm Then ...
  • Very nice. But I doubt the wisdom to up-res. For viewing on computer screen, the max res you need is 4K wide, which translates into 3840*2560 at 3:2 aspect ratio. It’s half of Quattro's mp ...
  • I don't remember the color mode I used on these exactly. But i almost never use vivid mode. Using CPL already made color deep enough.
  • Hope it matches the water you have in mind. Kidding aside, I guess I could have blurred the water a little to give it a more milky foreground.
  • I’m impressed with the result you achieved. They do not look blown up 1.8x and 2.3x. There are the inevitable artefacts such as the wire rope effects on the grass, and the staircase look of the ...

  • Replied in Weeds Impression
Thank you Larry. Haven't gone out much for a month due to weather, until today. Backlit weeds on the beach.
  • Some blotches. Not too objectionable, but visible now that you mentioned it and I looked for it.
