(unknown member): Really? I have to follow this guy's Instagram feed? I have to see what a guy who wears the signature of the highest class of dbag, the aviator glasses, is doing with his girlfriend? I have to find out what this tool's next excuse to take a picture of his girlfriend's butt is? I really need to know that a pretentious, self-involved, Instagram using excuse for a "photographer" is jetsetting around the world with his girlfriend? Why? So I can see what the latest combination of facial hair, sunglasses, and hipster tshirt is the stereotype for an egocentric jerk? That's the only valuable aspect of these photographs I can find.

Oh wow ...and you actually spent the time to write a comment like this ...hahahaha ...I followed, he has some great pics. Other than that I never met him so I can't really comment on his hair, clothing style or girlfriend.

Yes ...National Geographic, AP Photographers, a few Magnum photographers and just about every major magazine in the world ...utter trash.

Yes, and I also have a pan that promises to turn my meals into "professional tasting" food. Life isn't all mathematically calculated science...

As long as people keep buying them, Camera manufacturers will keep making over-priced cameras...

The equipment is only as good as the photographer ...looks like a lot of people here are still trying to justify what is "best" for everyone.

Thanks for articles like these ...keep em' coming.

chillgreg: Erin did you read the title after you wrote it? :o

Hahaha ...but lets face it ...500px isn't a site for kids ...there are a lot of "iffy" shots on there, even ones bordering on the edge of "artistic/child porn/plain ol' tatty" shots

I like it ...ugly enough. No RAW to keep all the whiners still whining, sitting on beach wishing they have a camera ...I love waving to them from the water ...just makes even madder that ...ha.

Bluetrain048: This is no comment on the selected images, but :

Flickr is almost entirely a social networking platform. As a photographer, to become distinct from the chaff, you need a strong network of contacts who will like, comment, view and favourite your images.

No matter how good your work, that is the /only/ way to gain any kind of recognition. The real key of flickr is in new users stroking the egos of other users, commenting and favouriting work.. any work.. thus gaining the same in return as payment.

Thus, large swathes of folk who mistake the 'lomo' filter for some talent seem to be rising above other, much more interesting work from people who don't have a network.

If we take flickr as representative of the state of photography, it seems to be fast becoming a hipster, facebook era pastime.

So, that's why I'm sceptical of any 'most viewed' or 'interesting' tags being of any value.

I use Flickr to store photos and as an easy way for friends and family to view them without them coming over my house. Seems like your caught up in the stuff your complaining about. Ha, the irony.

ogl: How to use it...?

Point the shiny glass thing in the front towards the object you want to record and snap a picture ...first you need this thing called "power" though ...so you have to put a battery and a "media card" in there :)

...sorry, had too ...tells you up above, read

On Dpreview Users' Poll: Best Camera of 2012? article (1514 comments in total)

The one thing that immediately strikes me with this list is that it includes a lot of "rich man" cameras. There are a lot of cheap cameras that are producing spectacular images in the right hands and to put only 14 cameras on the list is to only include 14% of the potential winners. I know ...it would be a bit time consuming to write one in, but, with what is included, I would have to say the OM-D EM-5 ...knowing this is a horiible camera for most users.

1) Well, seeing how Mr Rover is no way connected to the camera, this pretty much proves life on mars as there has to be someone else taking the shot.

2) Self portrait? ...Ha, very "popular page instagramee"

Do ...take photos and post

Don't ...worry about anyone else

Who cares what camera is used ...I think that, in itself, makes me think that this article misses the whole point of Instagram. It's about taking photos, not what equipment you used to take the photo. If your worried about that ...please, just stay off IG.
