fpessolano: What a robbery for me. I took the ultimate collection beginning of February and I feel like they stole 300 bucks.
I guess they will get many customers now, so they do not care about loosing a few who are like me ... feeling somewhat robbed.

Why did you buy it for that much? ...either you thought it was worth it or you needed it for something specific.

Just like everything else in the world, items go on sale and get discounted. Hey, I'm using a version of PSE for free ...does that mean that everyone who ever bought it got ripped off ...no.

Looks like a decent upgrade ...better sealing, screen and cmos sensor. No RAW but this isn't aimed at the person who wants or even knows what RAW is ...starts at f/3.9 - a non issue for taking pics at the beach and in the water. A lot of complainers around here.

Now ...what would be the disadvantage of just using another layer of the same photo and erase what you would want from there ...instead of the gradient layer ...I guess just using a different layer type...

MrTritium: Does someone have the Aperture vs focal length chart? It would be a very useful information. I'd like to know how bright the lens is at 35mm & 50mm ;)

That is an awesome question ...read the article, look at the pictures ...especially the one of the Aperture vs focal length chart.

(unknown member): Really? I have to follow this guy's Instagram feed? I have to see what a guy who wears the signature of the highest class of dbag, the aviator glasses, is doing with his girlfriend? I have to find out what this tool's next excuse to take a picture of his girlfriend's butt is? I really need to know that a pretentious, self-involved, Instagram using excuse for a "photographer" is jetsetting around the world with his girlfriend? Why? So I can see what the latest combination of facial hair, sunglasses, and hipster tshirt is the stereotype for an egocentric jerk? That's the only valuable aspect of these photographs I can find.

Oh wow ...and you actually spent the time to write a comment like this ...hahahaha ...I followed, he has some great pics. Other than that I never met him so I can't really comment on his hair, clothing style or girlfriend.

The equipment is only as good as the photographer ...looks like a lot of people here are still trying to justify what is "best" for everyone.

Thanks for articles like these ...keep em' coming.

Hahaha ...but lets face it ...500px isn't a site for kids ...there are a lot of "iffy" shots on there, even ones bordering on the edge of "artistic/child porn/plain ol' tatty" shots

Bluetrain048: This is no comment on the selected images, but :

Flickr is almost entirely a social networking platform. As a photographer, to become distinct from the chaff, you need a strong network of contacts who will like, comment, view and favourite your images.

No matter how good your work, that is the /only/ way to gain any kind of recognition. The real key of flickr is in new users stroking the egos of other users, commenting and favouriting work.. any work.. thus gaining the same in return as payment.

Thus, large swathes of folk who mistake the 'lomo' filter for some talent seem to be rising above other, much more interesting work from people who don't have a network.

If we take flickr as representative of the state of photography, it seems to be fast becoming a hipster, facebook era pastime.

So, that's why I'm sceptical of any 'most viewed' or 'interesting' tags being of any value.

I use Flickr to store photos and as an easy way for friends and family to view them without them coming over my house. Seems like your caught up in the stuff your complaining about. Ha, the irony.

Point the shiny glass thing in the front towards the object you want to record and snap a picture ...first you need this thing called "power" though ...so you have to put a battery and a "media card" in there :)
