Ben O Connor: They are good:

BUT resolution is still behind an D5200 (or is it?)
BUT a %100 cover OVF of a Pentax K-30 is lacking
BUT if the object moves to anywhere, they are not fast enought to capture
BUT They are not good video cams (well maybe a Gopro / Sony action cam with wifi is better options compare to their vid. )
BUT They are not chep to own ( A decent 600D canon is very afordable nowadays)
BUT there comes an amazing camera on a popular user interface on a Nokia phone (Lumia 1020)

Too many but, for a man who is not a but fettish :)

In reply to:

happypoppeye: The only problem is the price.

X100S / 35mm equivalne: $1299
EOS-M / 35mm equivalnet: $299

...not saying the M is better, but I've used both and the X100S certainly isn't $1000 better (for me).

Carlos ...the 22 is a good lens. Not perfect but for the size and price very good.

AF speed is still slow ...but better. Don't plan on shooting fast moving subjects kind of slow.

For $299, IQ wise, it may be the best out there relative to price.

Good work DPR ...and man, these posters on here have no notion of personal opinion or one mans trash is another man's treasure.

Those that use m43 complain about it, those that don't want one for their system...

arhmatic: The image quality is comparable to $100 camera.
But it's allright, it's waterproof, right?

Actually, if you can find a Panasonic ts20, if may be better image quality for under $100.

Anepo: What is the POINT of having a camera with interchangeable lenses that is worse than SEVERAL compact camera's with non nterchangeable lenses? This is basicly a TOY mirrorless rather than a REAL high quality mirrorless like the gx1, om-d, epl-5 e-pm1 e-pm2 & such.

To take photos maybe...???...

happypoppeye: EM-5 is $1000 ...this is an under $1000 list. Ok, so its close, but how is a $1000 body with no lens a best ILC or SLR?

I looked into it before commenting ...so are you asking yourself that flipmac?

The price is right in the article ...thats what they are going off of. ...and DPR is owned by Amazon, shouldn't they know their own price?

If the EM-5 is $1000 why is it on a list for the best under $1000 ...and the only one that is over $1000 with a lens.

schaki: I find it somewhat laughable that Fujifilm have copied the "M" from Leica rangefinders at the same time as using the M for their most simple model which in fact should be for the X-Pro1.
So what is the next joke from Fujifilm? Probably that the jpegs with badly smudged foliage still remain unchanged from previous models in the X-series? At least i might guess so unless they've some other bad card to play on..
I could have considered the X20 if it not had been for that very irritating flaw.
At least they've got the tilt-lcd right with the X-M1. Hope to see options with low NR included as well and I might test one.

Sounds like someone has a very big bank account and a very small brain...

sdribetahi: You all need to get over the viewfinder. Believe it or not, not everyone takes pictures at eye level. You should try it once, it actually works without sticking the thing to your face.

The majority of old men have closed minds ...won't try anything new and think the way they have been shooting most of their lives is THE best way because, well, thats what they have done.

On Pentax announces Q7 with larger 12MP BSI CMOS sensor article (232 comments in total)
In reply to:

Pangloss: Even at a lower price, the only significant market for this camera is Japan, it's not likely to gain traction anywhere else. There is no market anymore for these $500 toys in the rest of the world. Pentax and fanboys can argue that the IQ is excellent, but in the end it's the size and the color combinations that matter for the Japanese market. For the rest of the world, this camera just doesn't cut it at this price level, as it has to compete with many other compact and mirrorless cameras with better IQ and better feature sets. A NEX-F3 will spank this Q7 in terms of IQ at any ISO for the same $500, whereas the LX7 for half the price will easily provide more flexibility and more features in a slightly larger package.
Conclusion: nice but FAIL.

If you gave me the choice between an LX7, NEX-F3 or Q7 for $500 and I had to pick one I would pick the Q7 ...and I don't live in Japan. Huh, imagine that.

So, to sum up to this point...

- Pulitzer is spelled wrong
- People think that local newspapers still need paid full time photographers
- wow, unions still exist ...I think its time to kill off the rest
- People think that although a paper is bleeding money and about to go under they still need to keep a full photography staff
- People are still misquoting the CEO of Flickr by using a statement out of context (by the way: a reason to keep writers and fire photogs)

...and a lot more stupid stuff.
