happypoppeye: Looks great ...and everyone can praise or belittle it all they want ...but my first thought is, now you have an $800 or $1000 camera with very "unsecure" sealing (from what it looks like). The claim of Nikonos-like with what looks like the bad sealing of the compacts available.

Exactly what I'm talking about, thank you for proving my point. Its the only mirrorless waterproof that shoots RAW, so preorder it and hope it doesn't leak ...but even if it does leak, that doesn't matter because it shoots RAW? Awesome.

Joe Mayer: The iphone (note it's not called the icamera) is not of consequence to photographers. Photographers have cameras and not phones.

Unless your one of those non-photographer National Geographic photographers using a phone.

happypoppeye: So it took Flickr to separate the focus and exposure? Where was Canon, Nikon, Oly, Sony and the rest on that ...oh wait, fighting with each other. I forgot.

Dear idiot, err, I mean Marvol, Canon does not make iphones, so since never. ...and with continued features like this and companies innovating camera features that the camera companies don't have, it becomes increasingly dificult for the big camera companies to compete in the biggest camera market out there, thus leading to lower revenue and less money made ...thus my comment.

Rod McD: Human filing cabinets. Not a leaf to be seen. Sad that it's probably the future in many places.

Life is as how you see it. There are plenty of green spaces in Tokyo, and Hong Kong for that matter.

You get a little wider on these and you would be able to a lot more than just buidlings...

Simon97: 300 bucks for any camera with a 1/2.3 sensor is asking too much.

...and yet I would rather pay $300 bucks for this rather than an APS-C camera that can't auot-focus correctly.

bigdaddave: What self-indulgent nonsense. Why does this deserve to be here?

...because DPR has been doing journalistic pieces ...hopefully trying to turn the site into more of an all around photography site and less of a photo gear site. It's called expanding your user base, thus more hits, thus selling ad space for more money, thus making more money ...and hopefully it rolls into a site that puts more into itself and making it a better experience for all of its, expanded, users.

Well, right now the KKK are all for Zimmerman...

On Is the snapshot dead? post (70 comments in total)

Robert E Jackson has a pessimistic view and nothing has changed or evolved. Maybe he is just too lazy to go through the "me" photos to get to the "we" photos.

I would be willing to bet that there are just as many "we" snapshots being taken today as any other time in human history. The only problem with seeing them is that there is now another layer added, with the advent of digital and the availablity of relatively good cameras to the masses, of the "me" photos.

In 1990 there were 500,000 "we" photos a day being taken.
Today there 10,000,000 photos a day being taken, 8,000,000 whcih are "me", 2,000,000 which are "we". ...sounds like Mr Jackson has a problem with todays culture and is frustrated with going through the me's to get to the we's.

Ben O Connor: They are good:

BUT resolution is still behind an D5200 (or is it?)
BUT a %100 cover OVF of a Pentax K-30 is lacking
BUT if the object moves to anywhere, they are not fast enought to capture
BUT They are not good video cams (well maybe a Gopro / Sony action cam with wifi is better options compare to their vid. )
BUT They are not chep to own ( A decent 600D canon is very afordable nowadays)
BUT there comes an amazing camera on a popular user interface on a Nokia phone (Lumia 1020)

Too many but, for a man who is not a but fettish :)

I like Irish Spring

On Fujifilm X100S Review preview (485 comments in total)
In reply to:

happypoppeye: The only problem is the price.

X100S / 35mm equivalne: $1299
EOS-M / 35mm equivalnet: $299

...not saying the M is better, but I've used both and the X100S certainly isn't $1000 better (for me).

Carlos ...the 22 is a good lens. Not perfect but for the size and price very good.

AF speed is still slow ...but better. Don't plan on shooting fast moving subjects kind of slow.

For $299, IQ wise, it may be the best out there relative to price.
