  • Commented on Sony a6000 Review preview

@Carnex, actuality the reviewer listed the lack of a "portrait prime" compared to the competition as a fault. So, no the reviewer did not mention Fuji by name but the competition would be Fuji,...

  • Commented on Sony a6000 Review preview

@ambercool Fuji nor Oly have an 85/90mm prime. They both have "equivalent" focal length lenses—as does Sony. Annoyed that DPReview is perpetuating the Sony doesn't have lenses meme with falsehood....

  • But it's not really 2/3 stops slower. Your review states T1.7 vs T1.8.

  • Actually it IS the flange distance—well related to it. The Otus and the ART designers (and probably the FE55mm) realized the traditional fast 50mm design was reaching a point of diminishing...

  • But you can change the shutter speed in the video right? Same upper limit as the physical shutter? So the issue is that you can't shoot video and expect to get perfect still from it but you COULD ...
  • I'm sure the camera has rolling shutter. How bad will it be? Hard to say. The A7 cameras are already better than the 5D (test of Cinema5D). The trick is that the A7S will be processing twice as ...
  • sorry to resurrect this thread but mind sharing some links? I'm assuming you mean footage from the camera? YouTube is the great equalizer for IQ making everything mushy... Still I'm curious to ...
  • Interesting. Wish the lens was wider but seems much more interesting with a 5MP "flat" image. Would be even cooler if there was a way to shoot video with this thing.

  • Maybe, Maybe not. It looks more like the A7 which is much better attached.

  • Plus the FE 55mm is smaller, lighter, and native. NOT to say that the Sigma is not an amazing lens but I don't really see the point in using this instead of the FE 55mm (unless you also have an SLR...

  • No 4K internally is disappointing but 1080p is all I really need for now. Hopefully it isn't still mini-HDMI (not a very stable port for using an external recorder). Still, shows a lot of promise.

  • Replied in Bump
What's your best price and cost of shipping to North Carolina, USA?
  • Not to mention that 16MP APS-C vs 16MP m4/3 means larger photo sites which means you can use lower shutter speeds (assuming equal technique) and get less blur. So unless you are shooting some kind ...
  • Now if only they would update Aperture...

  • Actually Roger has been very careful in subsequent posts to point out that *good* adapters make very little difference in real world shooting because we live/shoot in a 3D world. There is just no ...
  • That A7 is tempting. I do wish you were a bit closer to me!
  • Commented on Sony Alpha A7 / A7R preview

This camera is really the size of most pre digital SLRs. We've just become accustomed to monstrous DSLR which were necessary for years because of the size of the electrical components. Now that a...

  • Commented on Sony Alpha A7 / A7R preview

loud compared to what? Compared to an RX1 or APS-C mirror less? Yes. The A7R is even a tad louder than a Leica but neither one is louder than a DSLR except *maybe* the quiet mode that you enable in...

  • To be fair I think the photos say it all.

  • Actually... NEX-7 $1,200 (list in USA) + SEL24mm $1,100 = $2300 A7 $1,700 + FE35mm $800 = $2500 $200 buys you much better high-ISO, better AF, an arguably more compact (well, not in height, I'm not ...
