mantra: i guess i would like the new acr (sadly i have to upgrade to cs6!)
and the ability to enlarge the curve adjustament layer (in cs5 or cs4 is very tiny)

does someone know if there is only the rule of third in the crop ?

PS hope cs6 will use as well the GPU and video memory , the minimum is 500MB of video card!

how?
i mean the curve window size, i add a curve adjustament layer and the curve window is small, but i can't drag to make it more large

Chris_in_Osaka: These 2 primes are kind of expensive here in Japan. Just checked the Yodobashi camera web site. ¥71,400 for the 24mm ($931 USD), ¥67,830 for the 28mm ($885 USD).

yes i see
they will be more expansive in europe sadly

Superka: NOT Supporting Windows XP, Windows XP 64. VERY NICE! I do have very powerful computer, but I HATE WINDOWS 7 for using 1GB of RAM, instead of 250MB as Windows XP 64. Neither of my 12 GB of RAM are unnecessary.
I feel that Adobe and Microsoft both force us to use this awful and stupid Windows 7. There are much more complicated software, supporting Windows XP 64.

by the way the more used operation system world wild http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2012/01/01/ten-years-later-windows-xp-still-dominates-the-web/

may i know when the 1dx will be available to buy?

i'm trying it
and it's really a great update

but
1)
it doesn't support xp , even it's the more used os around the world

2)
i'm running under w7 , but it's slow
i mean photoshop cs5 run amazing fast and it's amazing fast
bridge cs5 is super fast
i can't understand why lightroom is slow comapared to photoshpp cs5 and bridge cs5

but again for me is a great update

On Preview: Canon PowerShot G1 X large sensor zoom compact article (791 comments in total)

would really love to have a g1x with an electronic viewfiender
maybe to buy separately, apart

i own a g12 but i don't use it

i can't really enjoy the monitor
i'm old school :D
i can't enjoy shooting without a viewfinder (<-- the built in in the g12 is totally useless)
but i'm curious the sensor IQ
and the built quality seems excellent, outstanding

In reply to:

mantra: but it's a canon 1dx
i mean where is competition ?

hope the next cameras will not be identical ....

by the way it's for sure a great camera

the point is that i liked more the past
2 companies with great cameras and lenses , with different camera line up
i'm worried about the future
what the next?
a 5d mark 3 and a d800 , with almost the same spec?
is not only about specs
but i see nikon is copying canon and canon is copying nikon

i mean what's about the future?
many cameras that you can recognize only regarding the brand name or the name

in short i guess we will see many similar, analogue (i talking about nikon and canon) without a real competition!

i'm sure about the prices ... they will be almost the same
canon will lower the price of the 1dx ,and at the end , there will be few bucks of different between the 2 cameras

jmmgarza: The latest pro journalist camera from Nikon. If you're working for AP, the Times, etc., get yours now. The rest of us don't need this brick. Then there are those (of us) who believe in conspicuous consumption. The Nikon D4 is a fabulous piece of technology with even better lenses. Sweet!

about the lenses , i found the canon prime lenses better then nikon
are you talking about wide zooms ?
