I agree on many points why it's not selling so well outside of Asia. In America, everything is big- big Mac, big cars, and very big people :) and Olympus and Panasonic are trying to sell them vegetables in Geo Metro package....try 100 years later when we really run out of all resources!
PinPoint: I predict Oly will make mirrorless camera with APSC and FF sensor not long from now, when competition gets stiffer...consumer are smarter now, not necessary bigger sensor always better but bigger sensor can bring image quality to the next higher level...
I wonder too, what the next big step will be...the IQ is there already but will this be goood enough in next 10 years?
Kund: Can someone plz explain what does "push the envelope" mean, for the non native English speakers?
Good interview. Few times I was thinking about Olympus camera but I need a built in flash!!! Why so many Olympus cameras don't have it?
I dont think they really their use brains properly. After the easy film decades they don't know what to do now. They throw anything at the customer and what sticks is good. No brains, no creativity. Just read the interview with Nikon Stooges and you get the idea!
Great little camera!
If these guys makes weapons instead most of the world would love them....
raztec: Barney you really let Nikon off the hook in this interview. A classic case of be nice or you won't ever get another interview.
Don't worry it happens all the time in journalism.
Yes, that's the case, it's so simple!
Idon't even bother, alredy read similar smart answers in IR, waste of time!
SigmaChrome: Kazuto Yamaki strikes me as new kind of businessman. He's is not interested in growth for its own sake - a very rare thing in this world of endless business greed on a planet with limited resources. He wants to "wow" people... now that's a worthwhile ambition. A true visionary. I salute him.
I was talking about the design, that's all. I mean they don't have to look like the competition but over all: a decent grip, an optical VF, bulit in flash...I understand many people don't need it but if I buy a car, I want headlights, wipers and working breaks, not just 300 Hps....
Hi there, I know Sigma makes great lenses but can you tell me why Sigma has so big problem with designing simple cameras? I think ugly is a nice word at best. Is it Japanese thing they don't care or...?
The pipes are not straight...is this jpeg with or without a camera corrections?
I don't have a Nikon camera but this one seems right on the money. I don't understand you "photographers"...kit lens is just fine, sharp in the middle, less in corners. Features, performance are enough for the targeted audience...I don't buy DSLR because of bulk and weight, otherwise I'd jump in! Great review!!!
Another lens that will make me a better photographer....and yes, that click, click, click drives me crazy!!! :)
I think this is a good all purpose/travel camera, that's all.
66 more messages and camera is doomed...
gandulfc: If its under or around 1000 euros its going to be mine. LOVED the Merill but didn't own it due to the absolutely horrendous, battery life. Curious how this one is going to feel in my hands... don't beat if before you try it.
You can get 50 shots this time...
I will work for free (food & accommodation) in Sigma design department!!! What kind of sick person would do this???
