  • Replied in Same here
I just can't trust it. Which is why I stopped using it as my primary.
  • Backup now. Shoot with an E-M1.
  • Replied in OVF
I had an external OVF for my GRDIII that I used for a while. In the end I ditched it because of the significant parallax error for subjects closer than 6-8ft (can't remember the exact distance). I ...

The Ricoh menu and UX is the best I've had the pleasure of using. That said, it doesn't compensate for slow AF and the poor EVF.
  • Replied in Yes.
I have the 50mm. It's nice, but I find focus slow. In terms of sheer build quality and button/dial UX the Ricoh is unmatched. I now use an E-M1 as my daily driver and although it's nice its UX is ...
  • Replied in Yes.
AFAIR no official confirmation, but yes. If you're thinking of buying one I'd advise against it. Not because it's discontinued, but because there are substantially better options out there. I have ...
  • Unlikely. Filing a patent is expensive. Anyways, looking at page 17 it looks like the patent is about creating a mount that can survive impact (at least better than conventional bayonet-style mounts).
  • Wow - let me bust out my credit card! I must have got a defective one, I paid so much less ;-)
  • Haha. No :P I sent my GR IV in for service and it was returned with the AF module fixed and adjusted. There is an improvement, but I still don't like it as much as I did the GR III. I notice that ...
  • [surprised] This was still in doubt? I thought this was common knowledge at least 1.5 years ago. I was really surprised that they even brought out a zoom.
  • Mitts over leather gloves. I take the mitts off to shoot, and put them back on to warm my hands when I'm done. And, never underestimate the value of a nearby coffee shop - both for the brew and ...
  • Interesting. I've definitely used the GRDIII in as low as -10/-15 without issues. Never had a stuck shutter.
  • It's not about "fast child capturing". It's more like: "If I point the camera with center spot on a subject and hit the shutter button will it take an in-focus photo?" In bright light, stopped ...
  • Yes to 1 (faster AF in low light) and 5 (weather sealing). I'd like to see an excellent IS implementation as well. And, finally, I'd ask the Ricoh designers to try using the GR with gloves on ...
  • At the risk of being completely wrong...Montreal? Looks like the view from Mont Royal.
  • Thanks Mike - I really appreciated your time and cost breakdown!
  • Yeah - IS was the first thing I suspected. I turned it off, and although I noticed an improvement, the images were still slightly OOF.
  • Not that I know of. The GRD IV focus problem I'm observing is weird: the camera appears to lock on, but the resulting photo is definitely OOF. At first I suspected user-error, but even with very ...
  • My brand new GRD IV definitely has a focus issue. It's going to go to CRIS, and, in the meantime, I've gone back to the GRDIII.
