Hello all,
I'd like to upgrade my Pana G3 body as it doesn't click all the marks for me. I had originally bought it to try out the MFT system, but I'm now fully switching over (from FF...

I just checked http://www.dofmaster.com and that's actually correct.
A 75mm lens at 10 meters gives you the same FOV as a 45mm lens at 6 meters (45/75 = 0.6).
Both set at f/1.8 give you a total DOF...

I wasn't that far. Being far doesn't bother me as long as the focus remains accurate which is the case with MFT (I couldn't say that with my DSLRs).
Because of the relative small size of the MFT...

You have a keen eye; I suppose that's probably because she is pregnant...

As I've been wanting to get full body shots with a smoewhat shallow DOF, I recently purchased a like-new (was a demo) Oly 75mm on ebay for $700. An incredible deal for sure.
These are my first...

So the E-M1 has a base sensitivity of ISO 100?
If not, then the E-M1 is subject to reduced DR like the E-M5... which IMO is very deceiving.

Very beautiful capture.
I love the simplicity and the colors.

Thank you.
I think Panasonic makes very good glass. I just wish they would release an ultra-wide prime, such as a 8 or 9mm f/4.

A shot of my (pregnant) wife taken last weekend at les Rochers de Naye in Switzerland.
I really like the lens; it's already quite sharp wide-open and definitely more than enough for portrait work!

Indeed, sports shooters need to stick to PDAF for now, but it won't be for very long. Technology advances very fast and the OVF days are now definitely counted whether we like it or not. It's just...

I totally second what you just wrote.
People go on and on about how PDAF is so great because it tracks much better than CDAF, yet they hardly ever mention the fact that focus ACCURACY in DSLRs is...

This is very true.
I experienced the same issue with my 70-200 VR1. It was perfect at 200mm, but off at 135 and even more so at 70mm.
Olympus was the only manufacturer to allow for 3 different...

My wife is almost 8 months pregnant, so we decided to take a few shots in the country side while she can still walk around and while it's still somewhat warm and sunny.
All shot wide-open with a...

Gorgeous shot! What city is it?

Agree with the others.
Passed f/8 and the diffraction affects final output too much.
f/8 is my max, but I try to stay below, around f/6-7

Exactly.
It's especially true if the amount of light is not constant or if you point your camera at different type of backgrounds that then change the exposure. You don't want to have to fiddle...
-
But can you actually change or at least have an influence on the way the camera selects the shutter speed? (i.e. the bias I mention in my post). If not, then it's clearly not enough.
-
I agree with you, but why on earth no other manufacturers do it? It seems to make so little sense to not provide this. Any one who has used a camera for some time would know it's a very important...

This is a major issue for me with all Panasonic bodies (including GX7). Luminous-landscape describes it very well and they are as frustrated as me in this regard. Read under "No Auto ISO in Manual...
