Hi Luis...I've noticed this shot in the challenge before it was been withdrawn.
I've to say that it perfectly fits the theme (it's minimalistic and also reminds something nostalgic).Honestly I don't think the background is busy...In fact there's one color only.My attention is catched by the lines made by the shadows but first of all by the contrast between the white cross and the green background. If someone notice the grass,I think that he has a poor sense of art and perhaps it's better if he goes and snap some bug or some puppy! :D
l_objectif: Beautiful!One of my favorites!
It's nice to see some "Minimalist" shots while those that are not minimalist at all on top!!!...
Thanks a lot Luis :)
...I have some more minimalistic shots, but I had chosen this one because the theme said "minimalistic nostalgia"...After seeing the results,I think I'm stupid ;D
l_objectif: Very strange! Some real "minimalists" get negative votes and some that are not minimalist at all or don't have title and date as required by the rule and the theme well placed!..
The answer is very simple:
many voters have poor knowledge about specific themes like this one.
Plus it happens also that they vote on thumbnails and don't read the rules.
That's it :D
l_objectif: If this challenge is about "minimalism", I have the impression that some of us are still a little confused. I made a quick research and found this site quite interesting in understanding what minimalism is about:
http://121clicks.com/inspirations/an-overview-about-simplicity-and-minimalism-in-photography
Or maybe, it's me who is confused about the theme!?
You're right Louis...I think it's a very hard job to represent something reduced to minimum terms...For me the best definition of minimalism is "less is more"...Perhaps not all the entrants have a clear concept of what minimalism is.Your link explains perfectly the idea.
Thanks a lot :-)
Simply awesome!
jalywol: I don't think most of your entrants understand what LOMO means...when you look at the photos, maybe half of them would just about fit the description, and only half of those would be identifiable as clearly LOMO shots....
Maybe you could clarify it a bit more for the entrants?
Emh...I think if someone have a doubt about "lomo",Google could be helpful :)
If photography is our hobby,we should not be lazy ;)
P.S. there's also an example photo...
Thanks a lot dear friend!
Uno dei 4 è mio! :)
...Bravo ste!
La tua foto e questa http://www.dpreview.com/challenges/Entry.aspx?ID=672087&View=Results&Rows=4 erano le mie preferite!
Grazie Ste :)
...Ti dirò che è l'unica cosa bella del mio ufficio! :D
Era una delle mie preferite :)
Bravo Ste!
OldArrow: 114 entries were sent in to this Challenge.
During and after submiitting phase:
12 complaints were issued
10 entries were withdrawn (to replace with rule-conforming versions)
60 entries were disqualified (for not observing the rules)
6 comments had to be deleted (for being placed prior to Exhibit phase)
54 finally remained to be voted upon.
This is by no means unique. To my sorrow, almost every Challenge shows similar statistic.
There is the Rules Warning in the Introduction. There are the Challenge rules. And there is an additional visual warning posted as a Sample Entry.
I wonder, what more does it take to make the Entrants read and follow the frame of a Challenge? Aren't photographers supposed to be more observant and careful?
PLEASE do remember to observe the Rules in ALL CHALLENGES!
Read the rules please:
"Digitally taken photos with full EXIF only."
Your photo doesn't have the exif data! http://www.dpreview.com/galleries/438532066/photos/2247792/fire
Ooops...I'm not the host! :D

What a mess! :D
Better if you work in the mines!Nowadays being a host is an hard job!;)
Please dear challengers, before entering read carefully the rules:
"Must include the source of lighting"
There are a lot of photos that are off topic :)
We don't like to receive a load of low votes, isn't it!? ;)
Many thanks for your kind appreciation! :)
Thanks a lot dear friends :)
The person who assigned 0.5 to every entry, has nothing to do with photography.
...Even better...He is a loser!
WirenL: I'm glad a photo that followed the rules won the contest, congrats to you boar.
Thanks a lot! :)
...It's not so difficult...I just read carefully :)
That series of 1 demonstrates that this site it's full of ignorant people!
How can be assigned such a low vote when there isn't a specific thematic!?
I'm very sorry for you dear friend.
However it's a fantastic entry for me! :)
OldArrow: ... and finally 100 entries! Believe it or not, it took 184 attempts, 36 complaints, 19 withdrawn, and 65 disqualified entries to reach!
In all, that is one good, bad example... :(
Oh, well.
